The Pass against the wall Both Caswell's Antiques and Duval's Variety moved within one game of a cham- pionship berth with semi-final victories in Penetanguishene Fastball League playoff action Tuesday at McGuire Park. Caswell's, the regular-season champs, snuffed The Pass 6-1 to take a three-games-to- one lead in their best-of-seven set. Caswell's managed to put two runners on board with none out in each of the first two innings and follow up- with three runs in each of the frames before Pass starter Ken Popple was pulled and Burke Thompson came in to put out the fire. Kirk Glover took the win, allowing only one Pass run in the bottom of the first. . Mike Puddicombe was the winner as Duval's took a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven set with a 7-2 thrashing of IGA. Both series were to continue last night, but may have been postponed due to rain and re- scheduled for Sunday night. If so, Duval's and IGA will meet in the early contest (7 p.m.) and Caswell's. and the Pass will follow. Penetanguishene, Ont ARENA SNACK BAR RENTAL The Penetanguishene Arena, Parks and Recreation Board will accept closed bids for the rental of the snack bar facility in the arena, until 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 8th, 1982. The facility is for rent via an agreement for a 12 month period beginning September 22nd, 1982 and ending September 20th, 1983. The only pieces of equipment which are provided are a freezer and a deep fryer. All other pieces of equipment are the responsibility of the renter as are all supplies, food etc. Hydro is provided by the arena but snack bar cleaning is the renter's responsibility. The bids should include the proposed hours of operation in the various seasons, general menu, and the amount you are proposing to pay on a monthly basis. The rental will be awarded on September 15th, 1982 and the facility is expected to be open September 22, 1982.
