Patty Power has aneatjob Barrie resident Patty Power, a very cute and blonde-haired second-year student at Georgian College is the Provincial Lottery's 'Friday' in Simcoe County. Patty is a member of an army of Provincial Lottery guys and gals who travel Ontario literally trying to give away money. Patty Power's summer job involves stopping folks to ask them if they have a Provincial Lottery ticket on their person. If they do they are awarded an opportunity to pick an envelope from a handful of sealed vouchers. Prizes range from $5 to $5,000. Tuesday, for instance Marcel Robillard of Penetanguishene picked a voucher worth $500. Last Friday Frank Johnstone of Barrie won $5,000! As a member of the Provincial Prize Corps, Patty Power has met a host of interesting people this sum- mer. Their reactions at being picked have been equally interesting 'and in one case the lady fainted." Patty hopes other members of the corps can get together for a day later this year to relive some of the highlights of their unique summer job. "J think it would be fun."' Under rules of the give-away Patty is supposed to ask people "'they're not to approach me. "The last time I was in town I was interviewed on radio. Once I got back out on the street I was approached by a number of people. It was kinda interesting how quickly the word spread. "Often I've walked along and ayy people say, 'There's Miss Friday', makes you feel kinda good." As for Patty, she says she often gets "as excited as the people who win. "Last Friday when the man won $5,000 I screamed and so did he... " Soon our "Friday"' will be returning to college where she will study tourism and travel but wow what a super summer Patty Power will have experienced.
