London Prices are Comparable A recent survey has compared costs in London to those in five major Canadian cities. o The survey compares the cost of ac- 4 * commodation, car rental, meals, en- * tertainment and other travel costs in London to those in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. According to the survey taken in the last six months, the $80 price tag on a double room at the London Metropole (which includes a full breakfast for two) is on a par or lower than equivalent hotels in Canada. The London Metropole was compared to the Park Plaza in Toronto, the Hyatt in Montreal, the Sheraton Landmark in Vancouver, the Palliser in Calgary, and the MacDonald in Edmonton. For a night out at the theatre, the study used Her Majesty's theatre in London as the yardstick. A good seat for a top show is priced at $17.50, while Toronto prices start at $17.50 at the Royal Alex. The survey noted as well that London has a half price ticket booth in Leicester Square where tickets are available on a daily basis. For those interested in sports, the most ex- pensive seat at a First Division Soccer game was $12 which (in all but two instances) is lower than the admission to a hockey or a football game in the cities concerned. Cost for the rental of a small compact (including unlimited mileage and VAT) is $22 per day, while in Canadian Cities the daily rate ranged from, $28. to $38. and did not include unlimited mileage. Bus and subway fares were lower in Canadian Cities on a single fare basis. In all Canadian cities, the 75 cent fare was lower than London's 89 cent limited travel fare. However, visitors to London can purchase a one week pass for $9 which offers flexibility in the number of trips taken during a stay in London. ee ee ae Soceape "gee Thorpe Lichtenberg (left) and Mate Lichtenberg for grabs, but the champions' share of $200 won't (right) receive a cheque for $100 from Paul be delivered until the rain-delayed final between ' Boucher for their third-place finish in last Jeff Attwood and Dave Ogilvie versus Jim Hill and Saturday's Commodore 500 Invitational mens' Mike Hamelin is completed tomorrow.
