The final was com- pleted Saturday after rain' forced post- ponement from a week earlier when Hill and Hamelin opened with a 7-5, 1-1 lead over Jeff Attwood and Dave Itwasanetwin | Ogilvie. They finished the best-of-five job with 6-2, 6-7 and 6-4 victories. The runners-up received a cheque for $150. Third place money of $100 was split by Mate and Thorpe Lichtenberg after they defeated semi-finalists - Brian Emery and_ Brian Simpson last Saturday. Emery and Simpson were awarded $30, and consolation champs Paul Bouchers and Fred Desroches earned $20 and a couple of sports bags. Attwood and Ogilvie got off to a good start in last Saturday's opening set, winning four of the first five games. Tryouts for both local entries in the Simcoe County Mens' Basketball League have been slated for next Thursday at Midland Secondary School.
