Big apple day for Scouts by Harry Brown Last -weekend, Scouting asked your support for Scout ac- tivity on its annual "Apple Day" and we thank you very much. It was one of the finest days we have had. There were no apples left and the boys are thrilled And now a welcome to new leaders in the district. To Wyebridge, we are pleased to have Garnet Corbiere and Bonnie Reynolds. And to Wyevale, Doug Blow and Ray Sheekey were invested at the recent church parade. It's good to have working with us all. A new. Venturer Group is. in full operation also at Wyevale. Grover Amos is the advisor. Barbara Wiles was invested into leadership in the 6th Midland Group. ' A Wood Badge, Part 1 Course is planned to help these new Leaders with their groups. More later. Leadership still is you needed...Scouts' in Lafontaine need a leader in order to continue with their Can Scouting Career. you assist in any way? Another group has a different problem, They need a sponsor and a meeting place...Scouts of the North East Basin are present and with a leader. You know: the word leader presents a worrisome sound to most people. They see it as one person making all the decisions when really you are part of a team with the group, the parents and the boys, working together. If you have any ideas about joining, call the group themselves or, give the author a call at 526-9468. B N.B. To all Scout and Venturer Leaders: Any Canoe or Boat activity must first be approved by the Water Safety Committee and have a leader in charge who has a Charge Certificate. At present, there are six of these men in the District. : A canoe course will be offered in the Spring.
