a cam a a Sas et == poeta maypes mew') '.i a wv, Dear Editor: On Wednesday, Oct. 20, our 10-year-old daughter Angela fell and struck her head on a rock at school. After being taken to Penetanguishene General Hospital, she was transferred almost immediately by ambulance to Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto, where within the next 48 hours, she un- derwent two brain surgeries. She remained in the intensive care unit for eight days, hooked up to almost every life-supporting machine available. The support my husband and I received from our families, friends, clergy and people we didn't even know, was overwhelming. We were both very very touched. Crafts Guild offers suggestion Dear Editor: (the following letter was sent to the enclosed.) Mayor A. Roach, Municipal Office, Town of Midland, 575 Dominion Avenue, Midland, Ontario. L4R 1R2 Your Worship: The executive of the Huronia Crafts Guild felt it would be appropriate to direct a letter to you after our 7th Annual Christmas Show. As you are probably aware, a last minute decision was made by the outgoing council, to relocate our show. This was asked in spite of a year-old booking for the Civic Centre and our holding of a valid permit. The reason for this request was that our presence in the Civic Centre MIGHT jeopardize a lawsuit if the flea market group sued the town. The Town was very helpful in our relocation to the Budd Watson Gallery. Our show this year was a success despite the location change with only a few technical problems. A number of our members feel, however, that the Town owes us an apology. While we don't think the present administration should be asked to apologize for the insensitivity of the last ad- ministration; we do feel that we can give you some advice. If the Town is actually going to make a costly study for the use of the Civic Centre, then from our point of view, the Town of Midland and the mer- chants of Midland should be checking and ob- serving the success in other communities of similar gift and craft shows. Haliburton Highland Guild of Fine Arts Show is held in the Senior Public School for 10 days and the Caledon East Show utilizes several public buildings and these attract many people to the area. Since the Town is currently spending thousands of dollars on an area study regarding cultural and recreational needs, it might think of rezoning the Civic Centre so that not only recreational ac- tivities, i.e. roller skating and bingo can be held but also cultural activities by local artists and hobbyists and all non-profit organizations. Yours in good faith, Executive, Huronia Crafts Guild Not enough juvenile sports Dear Editor: , Every day someone stops me to ask how the Moreau Farm Equipment Juveniles are making out this year and why isn't there a writeup in: the Lance. I have to tell them and explain that a Lance report on their games was sent in to the office each Monday by noon hour but so far only two reports have made it into the weekly paper. I feel that the majority of people enjoy reading about their local hockey teams and maybe it would be nice to have a sports editor to cover these games and put in a report. I am willing to forward all information on games, including a copy of the game sheets if necessary. For all those interested, Elmvale lost its second game in the Woodville tournament on Saturday by a score of 4-2 against New Castle, after defeating Keswick 7-1. They were defeated 8-5 by Oro in a league game played in Guthrie on Sunday night. This weekend they have a league game in Elmvale against Owen Sound at 9:30 p.m. On Dec. 18 and 19 they play in the Silver Stick Tournament in Keswick. Brian Swan Manager Elmvale Juveniles We were touched by kindness To all those people who prayed for Angela, we sincerely thank you.As Aunt Rita told us 'Your sainted Irish grandmother said, more things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." Father Gordon Davies also told us, that it is things like this that bring a small town closer together. We saw and felt that closeness and it helped us through a difficult time. Thank you Midland-Penetanguishene and area, for showing you cared. Michael and Carol Dubeau Accounts Accounts in the total amount of $1,510,740.71 for the month of November were ap- proved by Midland council, Monday night, after Reeve Bev Day presented a_ brief finance committee report.
