Cent's lose 6-5 squeaker to Haliburton | by Randy Butineau Midland Stoneleigh Centennials suffered their second straight loss, at the hands of the Haliburton Huskies, Friday night, at Centennial arena. Despite a large crowd, Cents' could not get the equalizer and the eventual outcome was a 6-5 victory for the visiting Huskies. Haliburton opened the scoring at the :37 mark, with an unassisted goal by David Nicholl, his first of four that he scored. However, Nicholls was not finished. At 14:01, he fired home his fourth goal of the night, to seal away the Haliburton victory. Midland pulled their goalie in the final minutes, in a vain attempt to tie the score, but failed to do so. Huskies' goalkeeper, Colin Newell played an exceptional game between the pipes, especially in the third period, when the Cents' fired 17 shots his way, to Haliburton's seven. Total shots were 40-22 in Midland's favour. Jobn Walter was selected as the first Midland Stoneleigh Centennial "'player of the game."' Walter scored three times and assisted on another. You'll get a bang out of this Barrie District Hunters and Anglers Conservation Club Inc., have announced three upcoming Ham and Turkey Shoots, to take place on club property. The dates are Nov. 20, Dec. 4and Dec. 18, with the price being $2.75 per relay or $10 for four. The net proceeds are for local Conservation projects.
