Midland takes houseleague tourney- BEV Bt On Sunday, August 12, Midland Minor Baseball sponsored a Houseleague 'Tourna- ment playing host to two Orillia teams. In game Midland's first one, batter, Archie Wilkes started off the inning by putting the ball over the fence and chalking up the first home run of the day. The entire team pulled together as a unit and special mention should be given to Midland pitcher David Duval who played a superb game picking up four no-hit innings which' eventually resulted in an 8-3 victory for Midland. In game two, Midland again defeated Orillia, this time by a wide margin, 19-2. Again Midland's pitcher (this time Robb Lee), was instrumental in the win. Not only did he pitch an excellent game but also slammed the ball over the fence for a fantastic home run. Michelle Pauze also played a great game for Midland, making a tag play at third and hitting a three rbi double. It should be men- tioned that both Orillia teams played a superb game of ball. It's unfortunate that the Orillia teams were missing several of their top players and due to the different houseleague Structures, Midland did have the age advantage. Winning and_ losing aside, all players should be congratulated on the fine baseball skills displayed at the games. The Championship game scheduled for 3 p.m. was rained out, but will be rescheduled for a later date. Midland Minor Baseball would like to lake this opportunity to ay '""THANKS" Orillia!
