a a by CLARA POWER On behalf of the Library Staff I wish to thank our Patrons for their co-operation during our annual survey that took place in the Library during the week of Oct. 17. Your patience was commendable as we were compiling the government statistics. These surveys are compulsory at that (a) the Georgian Library System can evaluate their services, and (b) that the Government will continue to provide funds. How about buying your Stocking Stuffers at the Library. We have paperbacks (Harlequin, etc) on sale for five cents each. Come and gettem! On Oct. 24 Rosemary Hawke (Victoria Harbour Library), Sheila) Hamilton (Waubaushene Library) and I attended an Ontario Library Ser- vices Trent Seminar in Richmond Hill. There are a lot of changes taking place within the Public Library Systems. New forms are coming in, and Inter- Library Loans have become computerized. Our Library will be affected by these changes even though we are Off-Line - meaning we are non- computerized. Will keep you posted. Mary and Steve Roth- well hosted a wedding reception at their home for Mary's sister - Jennifer Hogan - and her new spouse Gerhard Brosch of Revelstoke, Bre: Parents and friends flew in for the wedding which took place at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church in Midland. My apologies to Danny Quesnelle. Parks and Recreation gave me your brother's name as being winner of the first prize for costume at the Teen Dance. Mrs. Virginia Frizzell Wins diploma Vasey -Carol Graham Eleanor Edwards Congratulations to Ian Vasey who attended commencement exe- reises at the Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto on Nov. 3, where he was one of the Ontario graduates to receive his Certified General Accountants Diploma and also was a part of the President's banquet. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Edwards' were in Burlington _on the weekend to visit with their daughter Margaret Doakes and they also called on Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hawke and family of Brampton. Vasey Women's Institute will meet at the home of Mrs. Irene Smitham on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Olive Edwards visited with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Edwards of Wasaga Beach on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Vasey visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Drury and Darren on Sunday. Saturday, Mrs. Melvern Isaac called on Mrs. Wallace Cockburn of Midhurst. Mr. and Mrs. Clare McKeown visited last Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Mel McKeown of Fergus and visitors during the week with the McKeowns were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Taylor of Peterboro and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Brewster of Woodland Beach. Sympathy of the community is extended to the family and friends of Mr. Norman Widdes who passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The funeral was held on Friday, Nov. 2. Glad to report that Mrs. Luther Emerson has returned home from the Royal Victoria Hospital "after un- dergoing surgery. Mrs. Roy Graham of Toronto spent a few days last week with her mother Mrs. Gladys McLay. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Edwards and Greg were in Orangeville' on Saturday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Edwards and family. The reeve and councillors hosted an appreciation dinner Nov. 2 for all the members of the com- mittee that worked hard to make our Bicen- tennial Celebration weekend so great. The people included representatives from the Legion, Metic, Lions, P.U.C., School, and_in- Churches, Victoria Harbour by CLARA POWER 'Victoria Harbour News Bev and Mike McCluskey hosted a Hallowe'en Party at their home for 43 kids. It started with a hay ride that left from St. John's United Church with all the Sunday School kids, teachers and friends - costumed for the event. Apparently they all had Talent wanted for EDHS Variety 'Night BONNIE ORR Elmvale District High School announces the coming of its annual Variety Night, on Nov. 23. Simcoe East centre, MPP Allan presented the Vasey natives with framed congratulations from the Premier of Ontario. McLean, a terrific time. The Lion's Club's Charter Night Dance was well attended. D.J. Todd Smitten played a great selection of discs for dancing including requests. Tom Chapman won a prize - a hat - and he wore it all evening. Anne Connely won a door prize. Catering of the excellent dinner was done by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. The guest of honour - Fred Box, District ~ Governor of the Lions - spoke on Lionism. Reeve Juneau had some encouraging words to say. Tom Savage of Port MeNicoll asked me to print a retraction. My sincere apologies. I meant to say Mr. Ted Savage, a member of a concerned citizens group, placed some queries before Council at their last meeting. Members of the Choir from St. John's United Church threw a Surprise - welcome party for Barbara and Lawrence Barr at the Harbour Diner on Saturday night. Barbara sings up a storm along with the rest of the choir.
