Port McNicoli by CLARA POWER Port MeNicoll Public School has held an election for its Junior Council. This election was based Wednesday on the same rules that govern Municipal elections. © Pupils in Grades 7 and 8 were eligible to run for office. There were poll clerks, returning of- ficers, speeches and promises made by the students that were running for office. This group consists of 20 to 25 cogenial women who meet on Monday af- ternoon at the Municipal Building. Mrs. Lyllian Reid was explaining to me that their main focus is to learn new crafts and games, refresh- Craft their keep traditional ones alive. They are recipients of a New Horizons Grant and this will enable them to pursue more avenues. Their list of activities include cake decorating, roses from ribbons, quilts, weaving and much more. Why not join them on Mon- day afternoons. The Vasey U.C.W. will meet in the Sunday School rooms on November 28, at 12 noon for a pot luck luncheon. All members are invited to bring a friend. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Hancock have returned home after a week in the north, deer hunting. Several ladies from the community attended the numerous bazaars that took place on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McKeown of London ealled on Mrs. Katy Bannon and Mrs. Irene Smitham last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Edwards were in Toronto on Sunday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dunn and family. Sorry to report that Mr. Luther Emerson is a patient in Huronia District Hospital. A total of 28 girls were enrolled at a ceremony al Port MeNicoll Publie School. Parents and friends were present, and some of our first year Guides Woolworth Your everyday store for were enabled to com- plete work on_ their Hostess badges by serving their guests refreshments. Already: this year the girls of the Guide unit have taken a hike at the Wye Marsh, had. a cook- out at the home of Mrs. Wanda Dunn, and celebrated Hallowe'en with a special party at the Community Centre. Costumes were judged by Mr. and Mrs. Reg Quesnelle. First prize was won by Sherry Juneau, 2nd prize by Toni Jackson and 3rd prize by Heather McDavid. The Brownie Unit have been busy working on their cyclist badge. Both the Brownies and Guides are planning to attend Maple Leaf Gardens for a special Guiding Celebration being held March 31, 1985, in honour of 75 years of Guiding in Canada. Cost for this trip will be $10 per girl. This promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime --ex- perience for our Girls. HELP WANTED for our float entry in the Christmas Parade on December 1.
