Midland YMCA Camp Director Austin Matthews, today released the schedule for 1985 and other details of the forthcoming season at Camp Kitchikewana. The camp, which has been owned and operated by the Midland YMCA since 1919, is located on leased land on Beausoleil Island, which is a part of the Georgian Bay National Park System. This year, Camp Kitchikewana continues to draw schools from across Southern Ontario to participate in the Outdoor Education Program operated during May and June. Some of the schools planning to attend the 1985 program are from: Midland, Barrie, Collingwood, Wyevale, Wyebridge, Elmvale, Alliston, Colgan, Caistor Center, Bradford and St. Cahtarines. Scheduled camp dates for the 1985 season begin with boys eight to 15 years of age, at- tending June 28 - July 7 and July 7-17. This year girls eight to 15 years old will take place July 29 - August 12 and August 12-26. To conclude the 1985 Camp Kitchi schedule, there will be the Annual Family Camp from August 27 to September 2. Camp Kitchi will also be hosting its third Annual Ladies Fitness Retreat, June 21-27. The camp offers ladies six days of activity, fun, exercise and friendship. Activities in- clude: aerobics, aquabics, jogging and water sports. You may also enjoy relaxing and using the many facilities the camp has to offer. ' This year the camp is limiting this program to 70 registrants, so there will be plenty of bunk houses and sleeping space to choose from. This year, Camp Kitchikewana will put into action its new Co-ed Camp, for boys and girls eight to 15 years old, July 17-27. In this new program, both brothers and sisters will have an opportunity to attend Kitchi at the same time. Boys' and girls' cabin areas are still separated but many activities, as well as meals, will be operated jointly. Programs at the camp appeal to active youngsters and feature such activities as swimming, archery, crafts, kyaking, sailing, hikes, canoe trips, music and camp fires. The friendly and helpful staff at camp Kitchikewana is composed of high school and university students, who are responsible, trained instructors and leaders. Mr. Matthews explained that registration for the 1985 season has started. A coloured brochure and registration forms may be obtained from the Midland YMCA or by phoning 526-7828.
