TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL STANDINGS MIDLAND INDUSTRIAL BOWLING Penetang Curling Club News RON BELLISLE Well the _ holiday season is now over and I hope you all had a good holiday. We now get back to curling in earnest. We did have a few games that I did not report on but promise to give you all this past week's action. On Friday, Jan. 4 in Industrial action it was the Rust Howert rink skipped by Bill chap- man over Mr. Grocer II by a close 6 to 5 score. Although Mr. Grocer took 5 out of 8 ends it was the seventh end when the opposition took 3 to help them on to victory. On Monday night the Ladies section got back into action in their second schedule. On ice 2 it was Diane Ruston's foursome over Lorraine Moreau by an 8 to 5 Rosemary Marchand taking an easy 10 to 1 score over Annette St. Amant's team. On ice 4 it was 6 to 4 with Marita King defeating Joan Gregoire by that score. On ice 5it was the same 6 to 4 score with Joan Maurice's team defeating Annette Merkley. The girls picked up a ninth team so each week a team will have a bye. This past week Rita Pud- dicomb's team had the bye. Men's Tuesday night competitive started their second schedule. On ice 2 it was Gerry Light over Maurice Bellisle by an easy 11 to 2 score. Gerry's team consist of himself as skip, Bill Reburn Vice, Phil Dusome as second and lead Brian Brooks. On ice 3 it was St. T's place fifth In classic io Last weekend, St. Theresa's Senior Girls participated in the Seneca Scout Classic ending up in fifth place. In the first match, Midland met up with the eventual third-place finishers, Wexford Collegiate, losing 14-16, 15-7, and 10-15. Outstanding digging by Anne McNamara and good net play of Della Swales and Chris Duval kept Midland close. In match two, second place finishers, St. Joe's handled St. T's 13-15 and 0-15. In the first game, Midland fell behind 3-10, but with the efforts of Lisa Quesnelle, Chris Duval and Della Swales made St. Joe's work for the victory. Match three saw the Senior girls turn their game around and win 15-3, 4-15, and 15-11. Lisa Merkley, Helga Fritz, and Della Swales had strong games. The tournament winners, Cardinal Newman, supplied the opposition for St. T's in match four. Midland fell 8-15 and 7-15. The final match of the tournament saw Midland tackle Mississauga. The girls fought valiantly but were defeated 9-15,16-14,5-15. When introduced as one of the tournament All-Stars, Lisa Quesnelle, was described as having great hands, being a smart power Z player, and a strong leader on the court. When the team played well they looked good. With this being the first play of the season, things should look up from here. Brunelle had the bye. The Wednesday night Industrial league got back into action with a full slate of games being played. On ice 1 the Plumber's Helpers defeated the Port Teachers by a 6 to 3 score. Ice 2 saw the Lion's Club taking their second game of the season doubling the score over the Legion . Lassie's 12 to 6. Ice 3 the Cosmo's took an easy 13 to 5 win over Beaver Lumber. Ice 4 the Trouble Shooter's defeated the Eight Ender's by an 8 to 3 score. Ice 5 saw the A Team demolish the Broom Buster's by a 17 to 3 score. But take heart Broom Busters, we have had to make changes as some of the girls have left the team and we had to get some help for Carol so Paul, Brenda and Paul better days lie ahead. Thanks for filling in so that we may continue with our 16 team schedule. Ice 6 saw an upset as the West End Boys defeated the Reverso's by an 8 to 5 score. We have only 2 more weeks in this schedule then the teams will be made into. 2 1983 CHEVROLET V6 Auto, P.S., P.B., Radio, Sport Mirrors, Side Moulding, Rally Wheel, Locally owned groups. Thursday night's men's Competitive has been going for a few week's but because of the holiday's this is the Ist report on games played last week. In A division at 7 p.m. it was John Moreau over Jake Reimer by an 8 to 4 score with John taking 51, out of 8 ends. In the second game it was Bob Ruston rink edging out Maurice Brunelle's team by a close 6 to 5 score. Maurice's rink was skipped by Gerry Light as Maurice was en- joying the sun in the sunny south. In the 9:00 p.m. draw there was only one game played as Dr. Woods had to default to Kevin Timmon's because of lack of players. In the game played it was a very close game with Connie Maurice defeating Ted Ross by a 7 to 5 score with each team taking 4 ends. In B division it was Mart Forget defeating Bill Reburn by a 9 to 2 score with Forget's 'eam taking 8 out of 10 ends. In the second game it was Al McClinton's team coming out on top of Rick Mailloux by a 7 to 5 score. In the third game Wade Cadeau foursome defeated Les Bell by a very close 7 to 6 score. In the first games of the Friday night mixed they have added 2 more teams. Ice 2 Larry Merkley's team doubled the score on Rick Desjardins taking a 12 to 6 score. Ice 3 Joan Maurice took the game by a91to3 score over her brother-in-law Bob Maurice. Al McClinton skip with Marita King vice, Murray Jones second and Cheryl Desjardins took an 11 to 3. win over. Chris Armstrong. Terry King defeated Rick Moreau by a 9 to 4 win. I neglected to report on Industrial league Tues. evening with only one game played. The Rebels defaulted to Mr. Grocer II.
