; ) Midland Oldtimers Over 35's 's capture 'C'crown Midland Oldtimers Over 35 Team travelled to Coldwater this past weekend to participate in the Third Annual Coldwater Creeks Old- timers Hockey Tournament. As a result of playing four games, the team was victorious in winning the 'C' Division Championship. Friday night, Midland lost their first game by a 4-3 margin against Moonstone Oldtimers. Scoring unassisted goals in that game were Fred Flood and John Webber. The third goal of the game was scored once again by Fred Flood and assisted by Terry Knight and Bob Monteith. In the second game of the tournament, held Saturday afternoon, Midland Oldtimers met the Atherley Arms Oldtimers with Midland emerging on the victorious end with a 6-2 score. Scoring for Midland in the first period were Bob Monteith, assisted by Fred Flood and Eric Major, Bill Knibbs assisted by Ken Davidson and Len Miller, John Webber unassisted and Len Miller assisted by John Webber and Ken Davidson. In the second period, Midland goals were scored by Ken Davidson assisted by Bill Knibbs and Ross Heacock assisted by Wayne Dion and Bob Davy, In the third game on Saturday evening, Midland . Oldtimers met Barrie Merchant Oldtimers and were victorious with a 7-0. Scoring for Midland in the first period were Bill Knibbs assisted by Len Miller. In the second period Midland goals were scored by Brian Marshall assisted by Ross Heacock and Bob Davy, Bill Knibbs assisted by Ken Davidson, Len Miller assisted bill Knobbs and Brian Marshall assisted by Eric Major and John Webber. In the championship game for the 'C' Division , Sunday, Midland Oldtimers met the Merritton Oldtimers from St. Catharines and were victorious with a 4-1 decision. Scoring in that game for Midland in the first period was Bill Knibbs unassisted and Bob Davy assisted by Brian Marshall. Scoring in the Second Period was Fred Flood assisted by Wayne Dion and scoring in the third and final period was Ross Heacock assisted by Bob Davy and Art Desroches. Brian Caley played all four games in goal and posted the first team shut-out in recent living memory. Rick Leaney skated with the team in the first three games and assisted on the bench along with the other support staff including Ken Cave, Ron Dalziel and Murray Yorke. Bryan MacKell coached the team during all four games. The team trophy and medals were accepted by the Assistant Captain Brain Marchall. As this was the first tournament that the Midland Over 35 Oldtimers had ever won and recognizing it included a first ever shut out game, a great party concluded the weekend. Aud why not?!
