Here at home, the Midland citadel of the Salvation Army hopes to raise $25,000 during the month, reports Lt. Ray Braddock. During the average year, 62,000 in-patients and 300,000 out-patients are serviced in Salvation Army Grace hospitals across Canada. Twenty-two hostels give emergency. shelter to 780,000 people and serve an astonishing 1,800,000 meals to the hungry. Some 14,000 deprived children have a summer vacation at one of the Army's 17 camps. And, 62,000 visits are made to prisons and police courts and 260,000 free beds and meals are given to ex-inmates. To the Salvation Army, however, each statistic represents an individual--someone with human need. That's why they minister in our com- munity to those in need: the anguished, those addicted to drugs or alcohol, the starving children, those who are lonely and _ depressed, and to hungry families. During this National Red Shield month the Salvation Army seeks your support, in dollars and cents. Re-elect Allan McLean Simcoe East MPG?
