Midland skated away with a 12-2 victory for their third straight win. Cowan notches winner Therrien's Furniture needed an overtime goal from Ken Cowan, his second of the game, to nip Hindson Marine 5-4, in Penetang Recreational Hockey League' semi-final action. Keith St. Amant, Dave Lefaive and Steve Buttineau rounded out the scoring for Therrien's. Cowan added a pair of assists for a four point game. Terry Spiker netted a pair of tallies for Hind- son, while Steve St. Amant and Ken Edgar chipped in with singles. Bill Mundy's hat trick led G. Willicers to a 7-5 victory over Huronia Optical in the other semi-final match-up. Dave Robillard, Bob Gravel, Rick Desjardins and Dan McNamara each notched a single marker for G. Willicers. Close, but no cigar for Cleaners Midland French Dry Cleaners Major Atoms travelled to Huntsville, Saturday, for the first game in a best of five O.M.H.A. playoff series, and came away on the wrong end of a 4-2 score. Adam _ Bourgeois tipped in a Sean Traynor shot at 5:29 of the first frame for an early lead, but Hunt- sville replied late in the period. After skating through a scoreless second period, Huntsville struck for three quick third period tallies for a 4-1 lead. Adam Deacon narrowed the gap to two, but that was all Midland could get by the Huntsville netminder. French Dry Cleaners turned the tables on Huntsville in the second game of the series in Midland on Sunday by defeating their guests 7- 2. Troy Caley opened the scoring after only 12 seconds had expired on thes clock in the first oJ period. Intense play by Sean Rourke and James Kranz, set up Robert Kranz for Midland's second marker. Sean Traynor dug the puck out of the corner and passed to Adam Bourgeois, who's shot slipped between the Huntsville goaltender's pads, as Midland ended the first frame with a 3-0 lead. Robert Kranz and Sean Rourke set up James Kranz for the only goal of the second stanza. Adam Deacon fired a pair of counters in the third, while Troy Caley added a singleton as Midland skated to the 7- 2 victory. Dave Ferris, Denis Maheu, Jeff Carruthers, Sean Traynor, and Adam Bourgeois assisted on the goals. Next game is Thursday night in Midland, beginning at 8 p.m. CAR STEREOS Brian Moreau ac- counted for all his team's scoring, but it wasn't enough as Stayner Tykes edged Penetang Techform 6-4 last week in house league play. In other Tyke action, Penetang Legion got by Grew Boats by a 6-2 score. Jamie Playne with two, Scott Hart- man, Steve Bottineau, Cory Duval and Ricky Arbour supplied the fire power for Legion. Serge Lesperance and Behn Garraway replied for Grew Boats. In Novice play, Driftwood nipped PMCL 2-1. Chris and Kevin Henry tallied for Driftwood, while Tom Heatley tallied the lone PMCL marker. Emily Maurice and Greg Martin each potted singletons as Beaver Lumber squeaked past Hindson Marine 2-1. Stewart McConkey replied for Hindson. A pair of third period counters off the stick of Glen Robillard, proved to be the difference as Beaver Lumber nipped Games Plus 3-1 in Atom action. Todd Wonnacott lifted Beaver to a 1-0 first period lead before Jason Weatherell knotted the score at 1-1 for Games plus. R&R Sports doubled the count on Friars 8-4 in the only other Atom contest. Jeremy Dickie led the onslaught for R&R with a hat trick, while Don Pauze and Corey Miron chipped in with a pair each. Courtney Elliott rounded out the scoring. P.J. Mealing recorded three assists for R&R. Jason Dorion fired all four markers for Friars. Future Brier participants Kitchener wasn't the only hotbed of curling on the weekend, as 16 teams vied for the 58th C.S.L. Bonspiel championship at the Midland Curling Club. Seven outside teams teams joined nine Midland teams in the four event cash spiel. Keith Williams, who captured second event honours and Doug Muxlow, fourth event winners, were the only locals to capture awards. Ross McCracken of Brampton walked away with top winnings.
