Students from 12 schools in our area participated in -three_ different categories: living, physteal, and engineering. Each student received a medallion and cer- tificate of participation. Plaques were given to the first-place winners, with ribbons going to the students in second and Trophies were presented to the school which finished first in the Junior Division, first in the Intermediate division, _ the best overall school, and for the best in- termediate project. John Todd would like to publicly thank the Kiwanis members for their generous support on behalf of all of the students who par- ' ticipated this year. The students in the top three rankings have been invited to enter the County Science Fair which is being held - April 12 in Park Street Collegiate in Orillia. Winners at that fair will be invited to attend the Canada-wide _ Science Fair which will be held in Calgary May 10-18. WINNERS Junior Division (Grades 4-6). Raffle for the Big Sisters to aid conference delegates Thanks largely. to local support for the Big Sisters' Association of Huronia St. Patrick's Day (March 17) raffle, six local delegates are expected to attend the Big Sisters of Ontario annual meeting in Orillia, June 13, 14, and 15. The first prize of a beautiful watercolour painting by Peggie Baxter, was won by MSS student Becky Ehl of Waubaushene. Vickie Irvine won the oak pendulum wall clock second prize, donated by June Butler. The third prize $50 money tree was awarded to Midland McDonald's Manager Steve Clarke. Kiwanis Science Fair winners named John Kumble, St. Joseph; Stephanie Oster, Victoria Har- bour; Michelle Byczko, Sacred Heart. Engineering. Kathleen Farle- y / Giselle Gauthier, St. Joseph; Charlene Duffy, Victoria Har- bour; Andy Lee, Medonte West Central. Division Trophy: St. Joseph. Two schools tied for Summer jobs for Oniarios young people. second place: Sacred Heart and Victoria Harbour. The trophy for the ~ best school at the fair went to St. Joseph. Best Intermediate Project Trophy. This is the Aubrey Daniels Memorial Trophy. Aubrey Daniels was a very dedicated and sincere teacher in our area and was well-like by everyone. He was one of the founders of the Area Science Fair and worked very hard in many capacities as long as he could. With this trophy we also honour the student who created the top project in the in- termediate division. This year the trophy went to John Rumble from St. Joseph.
