The weekend's activities - all free of charge - will include spring wildlife walks at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., a series of new nature films shown every half hour, a bird nest box building project (bring your own hammer) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. both. days, a Kiddi Korner for the younger set, a display /sale by local photographer Dave Hawke, and nature displays on tracks and scats, small mammals, birds and other wildlife in the exhibit hall. One of the highlights will be the opening of a month- long special photography display entitled Arctic Oasis, on loan from the National Museum in Ottawa. The free weekend is one way the Centre can say Thank You to all its friends who came to the rescue with financial and moral support when government funding was cut last year. The Wye Marsh has many new friends to thank and to get acquainted with as well; over 200 local families have joined the Friends of Wye Marsh in the past month during a county-wide mem- bership campaign. The Friends are a non-profit group which runs the popular tourist at- traction and learning centre just east of Midland. The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre will be open on April 5 and April 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and through the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. barbeque, held on a beautiful ranch in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. While feasting on the finest barbequed beef, participants will be entertained by Indian dancers, square dan- cers, trick roping, and a surprise act that will make everyone '"'sit-up"' and take notice. The feature entertainment of the evening will be the 1985 Canadian Country and Western Female Vocalist of the Year, Kelita Haverland. Kelita is no stranger to charolais as her father, Ivan Ohler,'waas the fifth president of the Canadian Charolais Association, and her stepfather, Mike Haverland, has been a strong supporter of charolais for many years. The evening will conclude with dancing to some of the finest country and western music. A special ladies program is planned for Thursday, starting with a tour of Heritage Park, followed by a fashion show and luncheon in the Shawnee Slopes Golf and Country Club.
