The boat is on the lawn of the Midland Boatworks, having been Camp seeks help Camp Wendekay is still seeking volunteers to help out the summer camp for children aged 4-11 years. Volunteers are needed to help teach the campers swimming and supervise games, crafts, hikes and bus trips. Camp Wendekay operates five days a week over a nine week period during the summer. The camp is held in Little Lake Park and uses the local Y.M.C.A. as it's head- quarters. The program begins at 9 a.m. and finishes at 4 p.m. daily. Camp Wendekay operates in association with the Huronia Associa- tion for the Mentally Retarded. As in the past two_ years, Camp Street dance Everyone is Waubaushene Pil ane weekend's annual Street Dance. This year's Street dance will be a little different since it will actually be held in the Public Park on Pine Street. Music for the evening, which is being provided by Georgian Country and Disc Jockey Michael Duhig, will begin at 7 p.m. As well as the dancing, the Waubaushene Parks and Recreation Board, who are orgarizing the event, have a casino licence for those who like the games of chance. Entrance into the dance is only $2 a person with the proceeds from the evening going towards community projects by the Association. Refreshments will be available. Wendekay will accom- modate 4-8 children from HAMR in hopes of in- tegrating them into the camp structure, as well as adding to the learning ex- perience that the camp can provide. The plan for the small boat is to turn it into a landbound ice cream booth. Wye Marsh, its primary goal to teach people the im- portance of wetlands, is responding well to the plea for support by the OFAH, says Program Co-ordinator at the Wye Marsh, Eva Kaiser. It is an ongoing effort of the Wye Marsh to highlight the importance Canada's wetlands, Ae Kaiser. The marsh is an educational emporium, where tourists can grip, first hand, the need for marshes and _ ponds. Wetlands provide habitat for wildlife, prevent floods and droughts and filter water to free it of pollutants, yet since the turn of the century, three quarters of Ontario's wetlands have been destroyed by fire, draining, dredging and filling.
