Lp ee John C. Armstrong Passed away in Coaldale on Aug. 29, 1986, Police Chief John C. Armstrong, at the age of 46 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Carol Armstrong of 1936 9 Street, Coaldale. Born, raised and educated in' Midland, the late Chief Armstrong has served as a police officer for the past 24 years. John retired as chief of police in Coaldale, Alta., on April 21, 1986, due to ill health. John began police work with the Ontario Provincial Police in Downsview, On- tario (near Toronto) in 1962. He later transferred to Midland including other areas throughout Ontario. In 1975, John moved to P.E.I., then on to Nelson, B.C., finally stationing himself in Coaldale in 1978 as police chief. John was a member of The Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police as well as Ewart Taylor The late Ewart Earl Taylor of Midland passed away at the Huronia District Hospital, Tuesday, Sept 9. Born in Aurora, Ewart was the son of Etta May Davis and Robert Hodges, and married 36 years to Myrna J. Rose. Before his retirement ten years ago, Mr... Taylor worked as a postal clerk at The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. He was also very active in youth sports. Besides his loving wife, Carol, John is survived by his parents, Captain Cliff Armstrong and his wife, Marjorie of Midland, Ont., one daughter, Deborah Armstrong of Edmonton; one son, John (Shawnee) Armstrong of Calgary; one sister, Mrs. Barbara (Maurice) Fortin' of Thunder Bay, Ont.; two brothers, James Armstrong of Midland, Ont. and Alan (Dianne) Armstrong of Pembroke, Ont.; and four nieces and nephews. Cremation. A memorial service was held in Coaldale United Church, with Reverend Robert Chappell officiating. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Midland, Sept. 9, 1986. Canada Post in Toronto. He is survived by his wife Myrna, son Robert Richard Clinton, brothers and sisters, Brock, Bruce and Orma Fuller, all of Toronto. Funeral was _ held September 13, where a private interment of ashes was held at Lakeview cemetery. Leo Desroches------ Mr. Leo Desroches, of Toronto died suddenly on September 7, 1986 at his home at the age of 67 years. Mr. Desroches was born and grew up at Lafontaine, where he owned and operated a farm on the 17th concession for many years. He had resided in Toronto for the last several years. Funeral Mass was held at Ste-Croix Church, Lafon- taine on September 11, 1986 with Rev. J. Sullivan as the celebrant of the funeral mass. The funeral mass was followed by cremation with interment of the cremated remains in the family plot at Ste-Croix Cemetery, Lafontaine. Pallbearers were Bruno, Denis, David, and Ed Desroches, Justin Maurice and Richard Blondin. Survived by sons Gerry of -Sudbury, Lionel of Kingston, brothers Robert Desroches of Midland, Laurent Desroches of Lafontaine. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Edmond and Stephanie (D'Aoust) Desroches, sister Doria Desroches.
