Time expires John Leitch steps down as chairman of the board of governors of Georgian Col- lege at the end of this year. He has reached the limit of time he can sit on the board. The Midland in- dustrialist was a member for four years on the col- lege's technical advisory board. Each area served by the college is represented on the board of governors by a person from that area. Robbert Hartog preceded Leitch on the board. During Leitch's associa- tion with the college, Georgian College has become the number one teaching college in Canada in the area of tourism; one of the top colleges in On- tario in the area of health sciences; and the location Lionesses Midland Lioness Club members will be travelling to Mactier on Oct. 15, for a district rally. The rally is sponsored by the Bala and MacTier Lioness Clubs. This month the Midland Lioness Club donated $100 of the Canadian Automotive Institute, which has classes for fran- cophones as well as anglophones. The college has improv- ed its offering in the area of computer training, run- ning computers, program- ming computers, using up- to-date design and manufacturing instruction. The Canadian Tourist Management Centre is a new building with a con- vention centre. The college facilities in Barrie, Orillia, and Owen Sound have been upgraded. New equipment for teaching masters has been purchased. Georgian College and the province's 21 other com- munity colleges were established in 1968. to Mactier to Midland Nursery School, for a partial spon- sorship for a local child.
