re REN RR EE --Sports Scene The first game at MSS saw the Hydro Hawks defeat the OPSEU Terminators by a score of 32 - 6. The Terminators put up a good defensive effort as the Hawks didn't start scoring big until the second half. It also didn't help the Terminators as they played with only seven men against the Speedy Hawk offense led by Helmsman, Peter Maracle. Jerry McBride hauled in a 25 yard pass on a toss from QB Ken Wright for the only Terminator major. The Terminators had lots of opportunities to score but couldn't dominate on third downs. Doug Waugh and Bill Beauchamp picked up lots of yardage on nice receptions to give them good field posi- tion. Beauchamp set up the only major as he caught a 30 yard pass over his shoulder on a completion on the 20 yard line. He was also injured on the play and taken to hospital. A separated shoulder. Rick Dorion, F. Ladacour, Luke Marchand, S. Marchand, all picked up majors on passes from QB Peter Maracle. Pierre Genier picked up a major and a two point conversion to finish off the scoring. The Huronia Optical Illusions and the Neb's Flyers battled it out to a 17 - 12 score with the Flyers winning. Q.B. John Larmand and Lorny Morulla clicked as Morulla pick- Sidell leads Kings Penetang Junior C King netminder, Bob Sidell was outstanding between the pipes Sunday night as he thwarted shot after shot in leading his team to a 4-3 victory over Gravenhurst Indians in Georgian Bay Junior C Hockey action in Gravenhurst. Scott McColl and Shane Gauthier gave the hosts a 2-0 lead in the first period before Steve Bauchman combined with Paul Steele and Paul Bumstead with eight seconds remain- ing on the clock to cut the lead in half. Derek Pifer knotted the score for the Kings midway in the second stanza with help from Wayne Desjardins and Don Monteith. Mike Magloughlin turned on the light with an unassisted effort at the seven minute mark, ' and Monteith found the mark two minutes later assisted by Bauchman and Steele for a 4-2 Penetang lead. McColl made the game interesting with Gravenhurst's third marker of the contest at the. 10 minute mark of the third, but Sidell denied the Indians the tieing goal. The victory over the Indians brought the Kings out of the cellar. Cents victorious Midland Stoneleigh Centennials sit atop the Georgian Bay Junior C Standings with 10 points after six contests on the heels of a pair of weekend wins. Friday night, the Cents hosted Penetang Kings and skated away with an 8-2 victory. Daryl Belcourt led the scoring with a hat trick, with John Smith and Archie Meridis contributing a pair of markers each. Dave Bressette rounded out the scoring with a single tally. Kevin Clark stopped 34 of the 36 shots fired his way, while Midland directed 42 shots at the Penetang net. Paul Steele from Steve Bauchman and Don Monteith and Monteith from Gary Lynch and Mike Magloughlin countered for Penetang. Both goals came on the power play. Sunday afternoon, the Cents motored to: Parry Sound and skated away with a 12-8 win. Dary! Belcourt was the big gun with five goals and a pair of assists for a seven point game. Brent Insley, Jeff Douglas, and Dave Bressette gave Midland a 3-1 first period lead, while Belcourt with two, Archie Meridis, Rob Fortin, Tom Hook, and Pat Marchand upped the score to 9-5 at the end of the second frame. Belcourt fired the remaining three tallies in the third for the final 12-8 count. The double weekend win leaves Stoneleigh Centennials with 10 points on a record of five ed up all 12 points. Larmand was sacked several times for loss yardage as well as in- tercepted by the Flyers for several turnovers. Flyers QB Doug Edwards found Andy Zurawski open as he trounced into the end zone on a 35 yard toss. Rick Stevens picked up a major and a two point conversion as Doug Edwards punted a single into the end zone. Keith Kelly tagged John Larmand behind the goal line to pick up a two point safety touch. Kelly also picked up several sacks on QB John Larmand as did Gary Straughn on QB Doug Edwards. The Redskins walked all over Mick B's Renegades by a trouncing of 36 - 0. Chris Wright and Dave Mink picked up two majors each as Glenn Bannon grabbed a major and a two point conversion. Jeff Attwood and Rick Presse hauled in a two point conversion each on passes from QB Andy Wicksted. At the first of the game Mick B's held the Red- skins off the board as they were scoreless in the first quarter. Wicksted found open receivers but none could hold on for recep- tions. Jamie Robitaille threw several nice i Stay put, fella passes to march up the field but could not dominate to score. At PSS the Destroyers humiliated the Dial- a-Movie Strikers by a white wash of 27 - 0. This game was thought to be a real battle but Strikers QB Randy Buttineau couldn't create a drive to win and launch the 8th spot. Dave Allan and Jack Michpeter picked up majors for the Destroyers as Roy Freer hauled in two majors on passes from Ron Tucker who punted a single point in the end zone. Jim Tucker snagged a pass to pick up a two point conversion to round out the scoring. The E&R Discount Outlaws also tagged their opponents, the Granada Toros, with a shutout of 25 - 0. The Toros were stagnet as they came up scoreless against the powerful Outlaws. Joe Beausoleil and Morris Robitaille picked up a major each as Ray Gadouray hauled in two majors on tosses from QB Mike Hamelin to run up the Outlaws scoring. Brian St. Amant settled for a single point conver- sion to complete the scoring. The High Flying Eagles picked up win number six by white washing thee Giants by Redskins trounce Mick B's Renegade 36-0 a score of 20 - 0. Rob Caskagnette, John Kop- penol and Ernie Desroches did the damage on passes from QB Don Meech. Ken Mar- childon hauled in a two point conversion to finish off the Eagle scoring drive. John Koppenol of the Brooklea Eagles won the scoring championship with 76 points followed closely behind by Morris Robitaille with 74 points of the E&R Discount Outlaws, for second place and Roy Freer of the Destroyers clinched third spot with 59 points. Koppenol beat out Robitaille by two points as he took first place over two weeks ago. Freer moved up quick as he beat out Hawks Rick Dorion who placed fourth with 52 points. Awards will be given out to the top three on Sunday during the playoffs. The playoff format will be as follows: Sat. Nov. 1, 11:00, "B" Division, Redskins vs Toros at MSS; Destroyers vs Flyers at PSS. Sat. Nov. 1, 12:30, ""A"' Division, Outlaws vs Illusions at MSS; Eagles vs Hawks at PSS. Sun. Nov. 2, 11:00, "B" Division Final. Sun. Nov. 2, 12:30, "A" Division Final. Awards will be given out at 2:00.
