"The measure of the sucess of the event is, by noon on Saturday, we had to refer people to Barrie and Orillia for overnight accomodation," she said. "At 11 a.m. Saturday, eleven rooms from here to Barrie were available."' "Tt wasn't one thing that made Winterama the suc- cess it was," she said, "'it was everybody' and everything." "I'm very proud and also very humble," Dubeau added, "watching 600 very 40,000 visited town beautiful people always helping and giving." Dubeau stressed the suc- cess can be attributed to the 600 volunteers, the sponsors and the lively participants. "Without their working hard, cooperation and live- ly spirits, it wouldn't have gone well," she said. "Everybody was quite excited and there was quite the festival air," she commented. From a packed theatre for the Queen Contest Thursday night to the cracking and sinking ice near the Puddlejump, crowds excitedly watched and showed their support. --
