Smith's struck for three in a row in the third as Jeff Mayer scored at 4:06 from Jason Jones before Pud- dicombe connected on a solo effort less than two Cheerful Convenor -- minutes later for a 3-0 lead. Jones made the score 4-0 from Don Kruger before Orillia finally got on the board with less than two minutes left in the game. On their way to the final, Midland Free Press toppl- ed Orangeville 6-1. Midland scored once in the first, twice in the second, and three times in the third. Mark Bottineau not- ched a hat trick to pace the victors, while David Cooper, John Marion, and John Kranz completed the scoring. Free Press experienced a more difficult victory in their second encounter as they faced Wye Heritage Marina. John Marion opened the scoring for Free Press at 5:41 of the first period on a play with David Duval. Wye Heritage came back with an unassisted tally from Michael Waltenbury with less than a minute and a half left in the period. Waltenbury connected again for a Wye Heritage 2-1 lead at 5:26 of the se- cond with help from Den- nis Quesnelle and Jamie Waltenbury. However, Free Press struck for three unanswered third period goals to take the win. Mark Bottineau, Dan Sibley, and John Marion notched singletons. Gerard Lachapelle, Carl Cowan, Bruce Guthrie, Chris Wright and Brent Gordon tallied for the vic- tors. Al Whidden, Brian Garner, and Joe Gagnon replied fur Cedarview. Performance also kept their hopes alive by drop- ping Top Hat Amusements 4-1. Rick Rever and An- drew Zurawski each notch- ed a brace for Perfor- mance. Paul Hahn scored Top Hat's lone marker late in the third. Barrelworks dashed Olympic Sports' hopes by nipping them 4-3. Scott Gordon opened the scoring for Olympia at 8:09 of the first from Wayne Dixon, but Pat Beauchamp answered for Barrelworks just over a minute later. Bill Griffin and Paul Robillard were in on the play. Barrelworks took the lead on a goal from Robillard at 3:18 assisted by Griffin. Dave Carr knot- ted the score for Sports half a minute later. After a scoreless second period, George Weatherell clicked on a play with Scott Gordon and Rick Lefaive midway in the final period.
