Advertisement Georgian Home Bakery The Georgian Home Bakery, under its present owners, Wolfgang and Marlene Kramer took over the business 10 years ago. ~ Wolfgang had a strict apprenticeship training in Ger- many where he qualified prior to emigrating to Canada in 1957. He was employed in various bakeries in Toronto and was the manager of a bake shop in a large food chain. Marlene says, "Wolfgang loves the countryside and when the opportunity arose to come to Midland it y9 99 was his chance to get out of the "Big City". While Wolfgang is using his creativity to produce new additions to their extensive line of baked goods, his wife Marlene is kept busy managing the store. Marlene was an executive secretary and it was a completely new venture. She has since learned to decorate cakes as well as acquiring a knowledge of all aspects of the bakery business. Both Wolfgang and Marlene say, "'We have always tried to practice good quality products that are attractive to the eye and pleasing to the palate. Service and customer satisfaction is important to us." The Georgian Home Bakery carries a variety of breads, rolls, donuts, danish pastries, assorted meat | pies, cream items, birthday and wedding cakes and much more. Their staff includes Baker David Dupuis and in sales Jean Myers, who have been with the bakery for 10 years. Kevin Quesnelle is the baker's assistant and Carol Biggar is also in sales, and both have joined the staff in the last year. Marlene and Wolfgang also employ a few part-time students during the year and full-time during the summer months, which is their busiest time of the year. Marlene says, "We do not have much time away from the business for other interests. Wolfgang likes to work outside but must retire early and | have to handle the accounts. We are open six days a week and are the only bakery open on Mondays."' The Kramer's have two children, a son Guenther, who is attending the University of Waterloo and their daughter Erica, who is in Grade 10 at M.S.S.
