Last Wednesday St. Theresa's Crusaders track and field team travelled to Oshawa for the G.B.S.S.A. championships. It proved to be a successful day as seven of 10 athletes qualified for the provincial championship regional meet next weekend in Oshawa. Dave Forrest lead the way for the Crusaders by winning the midget boys long jump with a leap of 5.23 metres. Dave Cadieux placed third in the senior boy's high jump and Heather mcGregor placed third in the midget girls 1,500 metres. Also qualify- ing were: Sandra Chapman, 5th in 400 metre hurdles, 6th in junior girls 3000 metre; Steve Soaring high Midland's Robert Lee won first place in the pole vault event at the Georgian Bay Secon- dary School Association Track and Field Meet last week in Oshawa. Lee, along with the rest of the MSS team, will be travelling Scores in At the Coldwater Bridge Club, winners receiving rating points from contract play on May 4 were; John Dowling and Jim Hughes, 66 victory points; David Parker and Lloyd At- tridge, 62; and Jean Carson and Verna Williams with 44. With the Senior Citizens Fun Tournaments well on their way, attention is focussing on the Epson Worldwide Bridge Contest. Epson computers will be used to tabulate world scores and determine world rankings at the World Bridge Federation headquarters in this weekend back to Oshawa for the regionals. Thousands of players, from novice to world master will test their skill against local club players, foreign dignitaries and world champions. The top six pairs of players worldwide will earn enough WBF master points to become instant world masters, an honour shared by fewer than 500 players worldwide. The game in Midland at the YMCA is open for check-in from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., 16 May. Play will get underway soon after. This effort in the triple jump event at the GBSSA Track and Field Meet in Oshawa last week by Jeff Bell gave MSS Marauders a first and third place finish in the event.
