Tykes start Gervan and Associates Tykes entertained Newmarket at Little Lake Park last Sunday in a doubleheader. Although the lads lost both contests, they played well which is all coaches Brent Cudmore and Brian Leary expect. There was some excep- tional baseball played by both teams in this exhibi- tion matchup. Jonathan Deacon brought in a run in the first inning with a shot down the first base line. Paul Beauchamp stroke a two bagger «in inning number two to bring in another run. Midland plated three more runs with alert base running. Newmarket emerged vic- torious 15-5. In game two, Mark Lar- mand and Mikey Mannap- so each singled and scored on James Downs triple to center field. Peter Tumber cashed in Downs before Paul Beauchamp singled to the right side. Another base hit by Shawn Hamelin scored Beauchamp. Hamelin later stole home for another Gervan and Associates run. In the third, Downs unleashed a drive to right field that went all the way to the fence for an inside the park homerun. Tumber then sent a base hit down the right side and scampered around the bases untouched. However, Midland were again outclassed in this contest, losing 16-7. Both coaches were pleas- ed with the effort of all team members in the two game set.
