Scottish-born Service wrote of the Klondike goldrush. He spent eight years from 1894 in the Yukon and his poetry brings to life the characters and the rugged environ- ment from that period. Hayter, also British-born, arrived in Canada in 1953 and studied theatre in Toronto. He has appeared on a variety of radio, televi- sion and movie productions. The grades four to eight students at Burkevale felt some of the excitement Hayter feels doing the one- man show and telling Ser- vice's life through verse. Hayter as _ Service presents a 75 minute show called, 'A Taste of Robert Service'. The review con- tains such Service classics as, 'The Cremation of Sam McGee' or 'The Shooting of Dan McGrew'. Hayter says the purpose of his show is to help school-children learn that poetry can be fun to read, fun to listen to, and fun to watch. William P Taws and Dr. P. Anand, Dr. R. Archer, Dr. B.
