Crime watch is coming The next meeting of Crime Watch organizers in Port McNicoll is slotted for Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the village library. Councillor Eleanor Lat- timore said at last week's meeting that the Crime Watch program is coming along nicely in the village. Crime Watch is a pro- gram where residents agree to be 'nosy neighbours" and watch out for suspicious activity. Each person who nicely registers in the program receives an identification number. When they call the police, they give their number instead of their name. Only the police of- ficer who acts as liason will be able to connect the number with a name. The upcoming meeting is mainly for those involv- ed in organizing the pro- gram, but Lattimore said anyone else is welcome to come. Road Race to wind up The Rotary Club of Pene- tanguishene and McDonald's restaurant are co-sponsoring a 5 km and 10 km Road Race for all running enthusiasts on Sunday, August 2, 1987. The 5 km race starts at 9:30 a.m. to be followed by the 10 km race at 10 a.m. These races are the final events of the Rotary Club's Fish Hunt Wrap-up Weekend held during the Chamber of Commerce Summerama Weekend. All funds raised from this event will go to the Rotary International Polio- Plus Campaign. The 5 km run follows the course from the Knights of Columbus Hall to Main Street, along Edward, Dunlop and Robert Streets down to Fox St. It follows Fox to Yeo, down to Beck Blvd. to Nelson and finishes the last portion on the Vita Parcours fitness trail to the finish at the pic- nic shelter just below the curling club. The 10 km run also Get down hunt begins at the bowling lanes on Poyntz St. and proceeds along Main, Edward, Dunlop and Robert Streets to Fuller Ave. It goes to the Mental Health Centre grounds, turns down onto Church, to Broad, to Fox to Beck Blvd. and finishes the last section similar to the 5 km race. The races are an unclassified OTFA road race and is open to all male and female runners. The categories for both races and for both male and female runners are: Juniors - 19 and under, Open - 20 to 39, Masters 40 plus. Last year's champions Evan Cameron of Midland (33:52) and Brenda Ar- buckle of North Bay (40:22) are expected back to de- fend their titles. Cost of registration is $9 up to Ju- ly 24 and $10 on the day of registration. For more information call race co-ordinator Henry' Bisschop at 549-8641. The Summer Fantasy arts camp has been through some rough times in its first year of operation, in- cluding several delays in starting dates and the cancellation of the overnight part of the camp. But these three camp counsellors, dance instructor Lisa Asselin, camp director John Leffler and counsellor Julien Ladouceur are ready to start the day camp on the right foot, down at Smith's Camp next to Little Lake.
