The winning team, pictured above, are-from left; Ran- dy Hargraves, runner, Linda Atkinson with Just Plain Pal and Tim Bourrie, cyclist. The event was set up as a relay race with a participant running a mile, then a cyclist goes two miles, while the horse and rider finish up the last two miles. The Mr. Grocer team registered a time of 17 minutes, 23 seconds.. Sauve and Beauvais lead Braves The Midland Peewee Braves travelled to Hunt- sville for an exhibition game against the Hawks It had been so long since the team had played, or even prac- tised, that it was like star- ting a new season. As always, what the team lack- ed in ability was more than made up for in enthusiasm and hard work. The highlight of the Midland 4 to 3 victory had to be the three solo goals by Jeff Sauve and the solid goaltending of Kevin Beauvais, who was brought up from the novice Century 21 are in the lead With only two games left none. in the season in Midland Tuesday, July 14 a close Mini Minor Baseball, the game was played with standings are as follows: Therrien's beating Century Century 21 leading with 4 219 to 7. With the score at wins, Therrien's with 3 7 to6, Adam Boyce slamm- wins and Radio Shack with ed out a three run homer to Bare foot in the Park A sign that Summer is on the decline is the fact that Midland/Huronia Volleyball Club held its final tournament of the season at Little Lake Park beach courts on Saturday. Several mixed teams from provided. win the game for Ther- rien's. For Century 21, Julie Smith did very well on first and Jay Dorion played a good solid game. Tuesday, July 21, another close game with Centurv ---- around the area and Toronto competed in the season finale. The summer events were thoroughly enjoyed for the sun, sand, swimming and sport the ae 21 winning a score of 10 and Radio Shack with 9. While all players played a good game on Century 21, Radio Shack's Michael Grieve played really well in field and did some good hitting. Richard Quesnelle played really well on third. Chris Jolie pitched well in relief and Sean Cousineau pitched two strong innings and played a good game as catcher. Tuesday, July 28 saw a good game played by Ther- rien's with 13 and Radio Shack 8. For Therrien's, Jacob Mosley had a great catch in field, Keith Diver, great throw from third to first and Steve Leary did some excellent pitching. Last Tuesday, another exciting game with Cen- tury 21 coming away with an 11 to 4 score against Therrien's. For Century 21 both Jason Rose and Dar- ren Gorthy had home runs with 1 RBI. Therrien's team all played a good game. team to play his first game as a peewee. Sauve, who's lacrosse career has been spent stop- ping shots finally had a chance to show off his of- fensive skills which, when he becomes more familiar with the forward position, will be of considerable help. The other goal was by Justin Murdock on assists by Peter Kitay and Chris Bell. The corners, Court Elliott, Geoff Ball, Ty Strachan and Chris In- gram, presented a solid wall to the opposition. Having said that, however, it was obvious to one and all that the loose balls belonged to Huntsville, and Midland took un- necessary penalties- two of which led to Huntsville goals. More importantly the Huntsville team are able to pass the ball from player to player and utilize their entire team on the floor. The Midland boys will have to practise a lot on their own - or in small groups - from now until the Provincial Championships, September 4-6, to be competitive. Nevertheless the whole team is to be congratulated by their good effort on Wednesday despite the long lay off.
