The Youngs made the decision that if they were going to be stranded, their preference would be to be stranded in Midland, where they knew that they would be happy. In their "newfound free time" both of them qualified to sell real estate. "We've never looked back." In his second year selling real estate, Clay was Real- ty World's top salesman in Ontario. Marilyn loves living in Midland because Midland- ers are very friendly. "They seem to have the time to talk. They take an interest in one another." Clay explained his at- tachment to Midland by telling a story about a meeting he took part in while still employed at RCA.*The topic was first and second prizes for a quarterly award for RCA's Midland employees. First prize should be a weekend in Toronto. Second prize should be two weekends in Toronto. The elder Youngs like Midland because of the varied activities for their three sons. Nevertheless they don't seem to have time on their hands. Dave, the eldest at 17, is going to be a ski instructor at Horseshoe Valley this winter. Both he and his brother Don, 16, are members of the Midland Secondary School ski team. Don's great passion is boats. He spent every day but one last summer work- ing. (The day he had off, his mother found work for him at home.) He owns a 14 foot six inch, five seat speedboat stored in a garage to show for his sum- mer labors. His mother isn't thrilled about the speedboat. But Don won't be going anywhere in his boat until he buys a 90 horsepower motor. Dan, 13, the 100 per cent Midlander in the family, was born in St. Andrew's Hospital. Clay has been a YMCA board member, and a Scouting leader. He likes winters in Midland but he wouldn't object if they were shorter. Driving in the Toronto rush hour traffic on occa- sion makes Clay appreciate all the more the relaxed life in Midland. In summer the Youngs do commute to work -- from their cottage on Little Go Home Bay. Dave, Don, and Dan work at Derek Robert's restaurant, grocerteria, bait and tackle, and gas bar, business on Highway 69. All of the Youngs are looking forward to the visit next summer of their "fourth son" and _ his parents. Tobi Neldner is a young man from West Ger- many who, with Dave, were partners in a student exchange program. He and his family will be visiting the Youngs next summer. <a| The Children's Marketplace ----E os PLEATED SHADES ost °°" | has it all for the children and SIZE Ist 2nd ° . 7 48" wide x 42" high $182 FREE ¢! } infants on your shopping 60" wide x 42' high $217 FREE 88s Poday list. 72" wide x 84" high $457 FREE bsces 0 ™ . seiy a porn a FREE In-Home /---- és i A a Consultation 7 2 Sey let us help you!
