Le Caron were very well represented in the boys volleyball GBSSA season. During the season, teams from all three categories, Midget, Junior and Senior, qualified for the regional where the Juniors came first and the Senior and Midget teams ranked second in the single "'A" division. These positions allow- ed them to participate in the GBSSA cham- pionship held on November 10 at Le Caron for the Junior level and at ESPSS for the Midget and Senior levels. A first place finish in the GBSSA '"'A" divi- sion, qualified the Senior team to go to the OFSAA Ontario finals, (The Ontario Federa- tion of School Athletic Association). It is the first time in the existence of Le Caron that a Senior volleyball team has been eligible to go to OFSAA. All these years of practice finally paid off. During the GBSSA, Le Caron played against teams from three different schools. In the regular round-robin, Le Caron lost the first match but won against ESPSS and against Stayner. These statistics qualified the Le Caron Senior team to play the final against Base Borden. With great enthusiasm, sportsman- ship and performance, the players under the coaching of David Brunelle dominated the play, winning the match in two Straight, with scores of 15-6 and 15-9. The Senior team is composed of coach David Brunelle and players Greg Dorion, Keith Dupuis, Alfredo Graziani, Edouard Gignac, Louis Levert, James Maurice, and captain Hubert Robitaille. On the same day, the Junior team imitated Junior Winners Ecole Secondaire Le Caron made it a double win recently as both the Senior and Junior Volleyball teams won the GBSSA Champion- ships. In this photo pictured from left to right front are David Laverdiere, Joel Marchildon, the Senior's. They also won the GBSSA, com- ing first in the GBSSA "A" division. In their round robin, Le Caron beat St.-Thomas and also won against ESPSS, although they lost against St.-Joseph's. With those statistics Le Caron qualified for the final where they became ~1 by winning against St.-Thomas. There was plenty of excitement as the team lost the first game 11-15 but won the next two games 15-6 and 15-10. What a day that was for the Junior boys! The Junior team members are coach, Yvan Lacelle, and the players Solomon Amos, Shaun Desroches, Seamus Ferguson, Jean-Marc Lalonde, David Laver- diere, Joel Marchildon, Marc Price and An- toine Robitaille. "It was the players' qualities and playing as a team and not as individuals that made our day a success," coach Yvan Lacelle explained. Le Caron is also very proud of their Midget team that improved continuously from the beginning of the season to the end. Under the coaching of Bernard Dionne and Hubert Robitaille, they learned how to play as a team and with sportmanship. The team players are Francois Charlebois, Yanik Cousineau,James Dorion, Kevin Gavine, Patrick Lenehan, Steven Robillard and John Rumble. Yvan Lacelle, head of Phys-ed at Le Caron remarked that this has been an encouraging season for the E.S. Le Caron Volleyball teams. At this time, the Senior team is practicing hard to be well prepared for the Ontario finals while representing the GBSSA "A" Senior division, their school, and the community. GOOD LUCK Lied it sam a a Jean-Marc Lalonde and Shawn Desroches. Back row from left are Seamus Ferguson, Solomon Amos, Yvan Lacelle (coach), Marc Price and Antoine Robitaille.
