For World Jamboree scouts going Down Under Two Boy Scouts from Huronia will wake up down under at the end of the year, as they head to Australia for the 16th World Scouting Jamboree. Kirk Hastings, 16, of Wyevale and Derek Amos, 22, of Elmvale are the only two locals from the South Georgian Bay District to head off to the southern continent for the event. "I'm getting pretty ex- cited about it," said Hastings last Wednesday night. "It's a once in a lifetime chance." Both Scouts will leave Canada some time this week, and both are scheduled to arrive in dif- ferent places down under at least a week before the world jamboree. They'll stay with Australian Scouting families. But they're hoping to meet up somewhere amidst tents containing Scouts from literally hun- dreds of nations. "It's basically a city of tents," Amos said. "You get to meet people from all over the world," said Amos, "'and try cook- ing different meals.
