Donations of Christmas Cheer pour in Once again the com- munity is in full support of the Salvation Army's Christmas hamper pro- gram, and Christmas Cheer fund raising. This afternoon 215 hampers of food and toys are being distributed at the Army citadel. The response of donors this year was "absolutely fantastic," social services director Joan Schirmuly said. The hamper packers have a room full of food and a room full of toys from which to choose when filling hampers. About eight of the 215 hampers are donated by companies. The increase in dona- tions above last year is in part because of help from Royal LePage _ staff. Because of the real estate company staff, 515 plastic bags of food was donated to the Army. TRW employees bought 181 presents this year, up from 75 presents last year. Lillian's Restaurant is giving a full course Christmas dinner to 35 people referred by the Salvation Army. So far $22,000 has been raised through the Christmas Cheer cam- paign, about $1,000 ahead of last year.
