As election nears ° Councillors make last minute points Viewers of the final Midland town council meeting (last Monday's) that Maclean Hunter Cable TV will broadcast before the Nov. 11 election saw a number of _ council members try to score points: Councillor Robert Brush said he hopes to be one of Midland's representatives on the North Simcoe Waste Management Association if he is re-elected; Mayor Al Roach volunteered to send a letter to the town's industries to explain why they are being charged by the tonne for garbage starting Oct. 1; Councillor Gail Barrie reported that the number of questions received dur- ing a phone-in program on Cable 6 was greater than expected. People with questions can call her at home or call recycling manager Liz Downer, she said; Councillor Fred Pilon presented a petition re- questing a new sidewalk NOMINATIONS TOWNSHIP OF TINY Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Township of Tiny in the County of Sim- coe that the period during which nomination papers may be filed in the office of the Clerk for the purpose of municipal elections will commence on the 13th day of October at the hour of 9:00 o'clock, and close on the 17th day of October at the hour of 5:00 o'clock, for the pur- pose of nominating fit and proper persons for the office(s) of Reeve, Deputy-Reeve, members of Council, members of the Simcoe County Board of Education (English) of which all Electors are hereby required to take notice that the manner in which said nominations shall be filed is set forth in section 36 of the Minicipal Elections Act which provcides that: HOW NOMINATED: (1) A person may be nominated as a candidate for an office by filing, either personally or through his agent, in the office of the Clerk, on the days and during the hours specified in subsection 35 (2), a nomination paper in prescribed form which, (a) shall be signed by at least ten electors whose names are entered on the preliminary list of electors or who have made application to have their names included on the list and who are entitled to vote in the election to such office; (b) shall state the name and address of the person nominated in such manner as will identify him and the office for which he is nominated; and (c) shall state the name and address of each elector signing the nomination paper and, where the office for which the person is nominated is a member of a school board, that such nominator is a public school elector english or a separate school elector english, as the fact is. PUBLIC SCHOOL NOMINATORS: (3) A nomination paper nominating a person for an office the holder of which is required to be elected by public school electors shall be signed by public school electors "'english"' only. SEPARATE SCHOOL NOMINATORS: (4) A nomination paper nominating a person for an office the holder of which is required to pe wiceted by separate school electors shall be signed by separate school electors "english"' only. SEPARATE NOMINATION PAPERS: (5) Each person to be nominated for election to an office shall be nominated by a separate nomination paper, but an elector may sign more than one nomination paper for the same per- son and the nomination papers of more than one person. (6) After a nomination paper is certified by the Clerk, it shall remain in the possession of the clerk, but shall be open to inspection by any person during the normal office hours of the clerk. (7) The onus is on the person nominated for election to an office to file a bona fide nomination paper. 1977, c. 62, s. 36 (7) If a greater number of candidates than required to fill the said offices are nominated and make the required declaration, notice of the time for the holding of the poll, including the advance pol and notice of the last day for making applications for a certificate to vote by proxy will e given forthwith. "It's just as easy to put (the ban) back as it is to res- cind it tonight," Police Chief Ernie Bates warned them.
