Midland Stoneleigh Centennials split its Georgian Bay Junior C Hockey League games on the weekend. On Friday night the Cents were hosted by Penetang Charlebois Kings and took a 6-1 win in a well-played match. The Kings played the Cents virtually even for the first two periods and at times held an advan- tage in play. Pat Marchand scored for Midland early in the first assisted by Derek Haines and Jim McLaren only to have Kent Nelson reply for the Kings less than a minute later. Midland CC takes Adco Cup lead Midland Curling Club hosted the 10th annual Adco Cup Sunday. The annual af- fair pits 10 Midland teams against 10 Penetang teams with the trophy presented to the team amassing the highest point total. Midland was victorious for the second consecutive year taking its sixth victory by a total of 238-236 according to drawmaster Rod Reynolds. The overall first place team was skipped by Reynolds with Leighton Smith at vice, Jack Charlebois, second and Reg Quesnelle lead. Another Midland foursome skipped by Jaz Roberts with Hugh Bremner at vice, Alex McPhail, second and Don Hough lead, placed second. The Marty St. Amant skipped rink from Penetang finished third with Keith St. Amant at vice, Wayne St. Amant at second and Brian Cusson, lead. Reynolds also was top finisher last year for the Midland group. The organizers, along with Bob Addison of Adco Tire, supplied prizes for the top 12 finishers including vests and equipment bags. On Tuesday, Mick B's visited CFB Borden and left with a 63-62 win. The Wings, who led 36-28 at the half, were pac- ed by the 22-point performances of John Faragher and Jeff Atwood. Bill Hartman added 13. Midland travelled to Barrie Thursday to face Queen's Hotel and escaped with an 85-84 victory on Bob Blasko's three-point shot at the buzzer. Midland trailed 38-31 at the half. Blasko hooped 21 points while Jeff Atwood contributed 16 and John Faragher 11. Midland is in third place in the nine team loop with a record of 11 wins and three losses. Queen's Hotel tops the stan- dings with a 10-1 record while Stayner Mistics are second at 7-2. Mick B's next home game is, Jan. 26, 8 p.m. at Midland Secondary School.
