Civitan was established in Birmingham in 1917 by a small group of businessmen meeting Ivens attended a week- long seminar to prepare him and the 43 other governors-elect from seven countries for their term of office. This fall Ivens will assume the office of governor of Civitan Cana- dian West District. She died in Huronia § District Hospital after a four month illness. Beatrice LeDuc was born in Port Severn, the daughter of Herbert LeDuc and Lucy Bon- neville. Her husband was the late Norman Cowie. Her daughter Coral LeDuc of Midland, mother Lucy, brother David LeDuc and sisters Theresa Scala, Marie Yager and Dorothy Maiden, survive her. Interment in Sis Margaret's Cemetery.
