Each Saturday and Sunday a beginners ski lesson will be offered at the ski hut from 1-2 p.m. There are two-hour ses- sions for $6 per session. A CANSI instructor will be on hand to help make skiing easier and more enjoyable. It starts start with putting the proper equipment on correctly and warming up the muscles through falling down, getting up, turn- ing, strides, kick and glide and using the herr- ing bone technique to master the hills on the as- cent. Their works are of a varied discipline that, while different in style, compliment each other. The Simcoe Coun- ty Museum is opposite the Midhurst county offices. KKK Ke Midland Minor Soccer is getting ready for the 1989 season with an organizational meeting at the Civic Center starting at 7:30 p.m. March 2. Organizers invite all in- terested parents and in- dividuals to attend. The purpose of the meeting is to plan for the season and for the International Friendship Games. Volunteers are required to coach, referee and for various other tasks associated with operating a successful minor soccer league. Bill Howard said, "They were good am- bassadors for Penetang, they were the most popular rink there." On Sunday, Sarnia played Kingston for the right to advance to the Canadian championships in Winnipeg representing Ontario. Results weren't available at press time. Both the Penetang and Midland curling clubs have healthy senior mix- ed leagues with the em- phasis on fun and socialibility. Both clubs count more than 60 members: The Midland contingent is open to anyone who holds at least a social membership at the club and who is available to curl Tuesday afternoons. Three. years ago, Alvin Gropp and Norm Ranson the ladies are members of the Penetang Club. hatched a plan for a home-and-home mixed bonspiel between the two clubs. It has been rumored that a spirit of rivalry has been known to exist between the two clubs in the past. It was agreed that each team would include members of each town. Last Wednesday at Penetanguishene Curling Club, the 'spiel drew 72 curlers which obliged the drawmaster, Pop Gravelle, to go to twc draws. The morning draw was won by Fred Hook of Midland with Jack Hanna (Penetang), Ed Pearson (Penetang) and Agnes Dupuis (Midland). They victimiz- ed their opponents by tak- ing all eight ends. The afternoon draw was won by Midlander Charlie Walton with Kay Lapere, Mike Babando and Irene Desrosier, all from Penetang taking six ends and 14 points. Primo Foods rewarded the winners with food packs. County of Simcoe District Health Council CALL FOR MEMBERS The County of Simcoe District Health Council is responsible for advising the Minister of Health on the planning and development of health care in Simcoe County. It is composed of 18 volunteer members from across the county. Members are appointed by order of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. A vacancy currently exists for both 'consumer' and "'provider" members from the following areas of the county: - Northeast: Orillia, Matchedash, Medonte, Rama, Mara - Northwest: Collingwood, Nottawasaga, Sunnidale - Central: Barrie, Essa, Innisfil, Oro, Vespra A vacancy also exists for a "'provider" from the North area (Midland, Penetanguishene, A "consumer" is a representative of the general public who is neither a member of a health care profession, nor employed by or on the board of management of a health care agen- cy.
