Midland Stoneleigh Centennials started their best of seven Georgian Bay Junior C Hockey Playoffs on the wrong foot during the weekend by losing twice. Friday night in Midland the Cents were blasted by Stayner Siskins 8-2. Midland played much better Sunday in Stayner but still came out with a 4-2 loss. Friday night, Steve Walker handed Stayner an early lead before Rob Swan- ton made the count 2-0 at 5:37 of the opening period. Trevor Irvine scored 10 minutes later to keep the score close entering the middle frame. With newcomer Kevin Pollock off for elbowing, Swanton struck again at 5:28 of the second. Bill Gourley upped the count to 4-1 at 15:42. Brent Trott scored at 6:46 of the third only to have Brad Wadge reply assisted by Pollock a minute later. Walker con- nected for his second of the game 12 seconds later before Tony McIntyre and Sean Van Alstine put the game out of reach for the Midland squad.
