A few simple remedies, however, will quickly releve the child, and change its mood from fretfulness to content- ment. If the baby has prickly heat, use soft linen, lawn or muslin next to the skin. Do not starch any part of the clothing. Sponge the affected parts with a mixture half warm water and half vinegar. Then dust with pulverized laundry starch and boric acid, using one part of the acid to two parts of starch. If the prickly heat spreads over the child's entire body, it is best to give it one of the following baths: Bran Bath--Make a bag of cheese- cloth, six inches square. Fill it not quite full--about three-fourths--with bran. Soak it in the bath water, and squeeze it often until the water be- comes milky. Soda Bath--Dissolve two _ table- spoonfuls of ordinary baking-soda in enough warm water to take it up, then addsa gallon of warm water. Immerse the child's body in it, or give as a sponge bath. Starch Baths--To a gallon of warm or tepid water add a cupful of com- mon cooked laundry starch. _ Steady use of a good taleum powder will go far towards preventing or cur- ing vrickly heat.
