THE MIRROR Local Interest s * s Proud Possessors of Hockey Trophy The Delparcs are the proud pos- essers of the Stratford Herald trophy, emblematic of the championship of the Senior City Hockey League. It stands to be admired by all and sun- dry in Metcalf's store, all shined up for the occasion. Last year it was the property of the Kroehler entry and in the course of the year was giv- en an overhaul. It now has a new base and a new coat of silver plate, adding greatly to its attractiveness. It is said that the members of the team are speculating about what it is to be fill- ed with when it is duly presented to the team on some appropriate occas- ion in the near future. The Delparcs captured the silverware after a hard uphill fight against the Ballantyne outfit. The trainer, "Moocow"' Wil- son, ig deserving of much kudos for the win. "Sherriff" Makins, the proud owner of the team, has been smiling ever since the season closed and is said to regard the silverware as not nearly handsome enough for his team. Then too C. Creasy, the manager, should get a spot or two of the flow- ing fruit juice since he did his stuff capably. The members of the team are: P. Yeandle, "Peanut" Collins, Allan Murray, "Hoot" Roberts, "Butch" Clark; Benjamin Smith, Ron- ald McLeod, Herman Yeandle. | Poems Written by Stratford Poetess THE GIFT By Marjorie G. Ogilvie. Into the dullness of my life, you've brought. At last, the sweetest song men call love-- It came to me surprised, without be- 3 ing sought, It came, because God sent it from above! that And it is fashioned from the rain- bow's glow, And it is dewy from. the twilight the opal skies-- ' The sunset warms, breezes blow, This dream that came aware your dear eyes! in My life is now so changed, so full each day, With color from love's prilliant artistry ,-- For suddenly the darkness died a- way, You came, Dear Heart, unasked, straight home to me! FULFILMENT. By Marjoiie G. Ogilvie The song of spring is in the air, In the _ trees and the budding flow'rs,-- The song my heart refused to hear, During winter's dark dreary hours. The song of life is on my lips, As I watch the weary or gay,-- Life gives, but it takes from each of Us, some dreams we have stored away. The song of love is in my heart, And I own no worry or care,-- For Spring and Life and Love are mine, And God's sunshine is everywhere! '*Chatham Daily News."'
