N. R. SHOP EMPLOYEES' ANNUAL OUTING One of the most important events of the year is the C. N. R. shop em- ployees' excursion. : Interest and enthusiasm in this an- nual outing from year to year seems not to lessen, and there is really no together of hundreds of shopmen and their families and their friends is in- deed an inspiring sight. In fact the friendly feeling and cordiality that is existent among the local officials and their statf resembles nothing as much as one large family wherein peace and harmony exists. The dominant thought and feeling of everyone on these excursions is that of real enjoyment and pleasure. The C.N.R. shop employees are men that Stratford should be proud of in - every particular, It has often been asked what* would Stratford be commercially without the C. N. R. shops, but their commer- cial value to our city is not the most ticism is equally as valuable, if not a more valuable asset to our city. The beautification of the homes of these men express more than words the quality of their character, for no one loves or admires even a flower who has not a corresponding beauty of soul. The officials of the C.N.R. have done much to develop and encourage this admirable trait of character. The choice of the picnic grounds this year was most popular, and the scenery along the way delightful. The day was in every sense ideal, and made one feel the sweet undulations of the soft ambrosial air while tak- to Port Dalhousie, The Editor of The Mirror sincerely thanks the committee for his having again been given the honor of being one of their guests at their annual outing. What a Holiday Should Mean Vacation time is here again. Every- one who can should take a holiday -and make sure that it is a vacation, not merely another name for dissa- pation. If properly carried out a week's vacation can be made a tonic such as no doctor in the world can supply. One man's food may be an- other's poison, and so it is with a holiday. It is a question deserving of some thought. The automobilist may step into his car and travel hun- dreds of miles, burning up roads, while the hot sun burns him up and is more likely to return home more of a cripple than a well man. The small town man may hike for the city and the strenuous city life for a week or two turning night into day and generally spending more energy in those two weeks than he will recover during the whole year. Both these men will really need a holiday to re cover from their holidays. Take a vacation by all means but take a little time to think it over before you start SA a ) ; Generations of Smart Stratford Women have bought Silks at The Fraser Store A delightful place to buy Silks SILKS that suggest count- less possibilities for real indi- viduality in apparel.
