At the pres- ent time the public health work of the city is somewhat divided and gets no government aid. If they are grouped under the Board of Health a grant of $500 can be secured. There must be an addition to the staff but the ex® tra grant from the government takes care of that so that the people get that much more service for the same money and incidentally with al] the work in one organization more ef- ficient service can be given. The question of school dentistry is one matter involved as there is consider- able difference of opinion about whether there, should be a dental clin- ic or a dental inspector. There is one section of the board and public which supports the clinic because it gives a poor family the same chance as the well to do one and there is another element which supports the imspec- tion system because they say some people get free service who could af- ford to pay for it. It would seem to the unbiased onlooker that it is more important to see that the needy ones are taken care of than to cavil at one or two getting free service when they could pay for it. Familiar Words--A doll that says 'papa' is now on the market, but we don't think it will sound natural un- less it also says 'gimme.'--Prince Al- bert Herald. A Matter of Taste--Nearly one-third of American homes are without bath- tubs. Still the dirty third probably have radios and one can't have every- thing.--Sault Ste. Marie Star. Hindy's Oversight--President Von Hindenburg stoutly maintains that Germany drew her sword in self-de- fence, but he doesn't explain how she happened to be so far from home when attacked.--Winnipeg Free Press.
