WILLIAM WANZEL 8 THE MIRROR = ii There passed away in the city on Tuesday, April 17, a respecteq and much esteemed resident of this com- munity in the person of Mrs. William Wanzel, who, in her 53rd year, was suddenly called to her reward after! a life-long residency in Stratford. Word of her death came with sincere regret to a wide circle of friends who knew the deceased woman only as a kind and loving neighbor and held her in the highest regard. Although Mrs. Wanzel had been in ailing health for some tme, her death was a_ severe shock to all who knew her. She was a@member of St. Paul's Anglican church. Before her marriage to Wil- jiam Wanzel, she was Miss Margaret Hammer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hammer, pioneer residents of this city. Besides her husband she was survived by one son, Lorne! four sister, Mrs. R. W. Ronchey, Tuscan, Arizona; Mrs. E. Hatfield, Toronto; Mrs. S. J. Kruhn, Buffalo, N.Y., and Mrs. W. J. Hayes, city, and two brothers, Arthur and Louis, both members of the Stratford Fire Department. Scores of floral tributes bore mute testimony of the high place the late Mrs. Wanzel held in the life of the community, when the funeral was held on Thursday afternoon. from the late residence at 99 Rebecca street to St: Paul's Anglican church. Friends and acquaintances from the city as well as many out of town places gath- ered to pay their last respects and the church service was very largely at- tended. Rev. H. W. Snell conducted the service and the body was later laid to rest in Avondafe cemetery with J. Stevenson, A. Abraham, A. E. Kap- pele, W. J. McCully, J. B. Waugh and R. J. Easson acting as pallbearers. Among those present from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. William O'Brien, Mildmay; Lou Westwood and son Lorne, S. Houghton, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Towner and son and daughter, Toronto; Kenneth Hammer and Wil- liam Freeman, Detroit; T. Moore, London; Mrs. William Hatfield, To- ronto; Mrs. F. Kuhn, Buffalo and Mr. and Mrs. M. McDermott and daughter, Tavistock. Mr. P. J. Kelly was in Toronto this week attending the meeting of the Dominion section of the Retail Merchants' association. Mr. Kelly be- ing one of the executive of the To- ronto board. A convention will be held in conjunction with the American Clothing and Furnishing Display As- sociation from the 1ith to 13th of June in the Music building of the Exhibition grounds.
