Pequegnat & Son. It is not. always that the years suggest progress and development, but in this case it must be admitted they do. Just recenily hundreds of dollars have been spent in increasing and improving the win- dow display and the interior of the store. A handsome new show window has been added and greatly improved not only the Pequegnat store but, the appearance of Ontario Street. Just this week a new Floral Depart- ment has been added and a refrigerat- ion equipment which is the only one of its kind in the city. They are now the representatives of Dale's Green- houses, the largest flower growers on the American continent. Mr. Peque- nat is deserving of much credit for his enterprise and it is hoped that he will be rewarded with an increased patronage. Because of this new down- town floral service no doubt a greater number of people will "say it vith flowers." There has been in our city for a short time R. A. Brown, of Orillia, but Mr. Brown is the kind of a fellow one might know for a long time with- | out hearing him say a word about | himself. He has a page advt. in this issue of The Mirror telling of the wonderful shoe bargains he is offer- ing, but at that he doesn't believe in talking about himself. However a gentleman dropped into our office the other day, who knows Mr. Brown and we learned that he is one of Orillia's most respected citizens and a »shcrt time ago was élected Mayor of Orillia. Mr. Brown is not going to be one of our citizens for any great length of time. In his advertisement in this is- sue of the Mirror he says he has 4,000 pairs of shoes to sell and that he is leaving Stratford on Dec. 5. The Mir- ror regrets to learn that he can't stay in our city, but he likes Stratford so - well that it would not surprise us at all if he were to come back Here's hoping. Weddings again. | A wedding of interest to Stratford | citizens was solemnized in London on Tuesday afternoon when Miss Nettie Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Scott, 124 Perth Street, became the bride of Alfred Day, son of Mr. and, Mrs. Horace Day, 128 Perth Street. Rev. D. C. MacGregor, D.D., pastor pee St. Andrew's United Church, London, officiated. The bride was attended reg Miss Edith Miller, and Robert Brown | was the best man. Mr. and Mrs. Day will reside in Stratford. * * ae The parsonage of Memorial Baptist Church was the scene of a pretty wed- ding on Saturday afternoon when' Lil- | lian Edith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. | C. J. Skirten, St. David Street, became the bride of Joseph Harold Bullock, son of Mrs. E. Thompson, Ontario Street. Rev. J. G. Connor, pastor of Memorial Baptist Church, officiated. Miss Olive Skirten was bridesmaid, and Percy Skirten, brother of the bride, was best man. A dainty wed- ding breakfast was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perey Skirten, Rail- way Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Bullock will reside at 108 Railway Avenue. Sense and Nonsen'se Seriously though, the municipal el- ections are drawing near, and it is time to be thinking about candidates for the various offices. The members of the present council should make up their minds pretty soon as to whether fore the electors again this year. . +S If Ald. John Andrew refuses to change his mind about retiring this year, no person can blame him, For eleven years, Mr. Andrew has given his services to the city. Two of those years have been ag Mayor. Any per- of an alderman or of the mayor, can realize the countless hours which Mr. Andrew has time. If he retires, the city loses a faithful servant. If he decides to run again, the 'electors hav a "worthy can- didate. * * * é Speaking of hockey, Rene Fournier, who played his hockey with Stratford in the old Canpro League, and who _|has played with almost every team in the International, is now among the unemployed. ee ae With Ed.
