While the unfortun- ate young man had been a resident of Seaforth for the past four years, he was well-known and highly respected in this city. The death of the former Stratford boy is but one of several fatalities of the same type which have occurred in Ontario during the past few weeks. Every Monday morning brings an all too long list of week-end fatalities, and dacttie accidents have been fairly num- _erous. While diving: is undoubtedly a use- 'ful sport which gives physical devel- opment and grace of carriage to those who take the necessary time and prac- 'tice to accomplish it, it can be a very |dangerous sport under unfavorable conditions. When the water is so shallow that a diver runs the danger of striking his head, thereby causing his death, we would say that condi- tions certainly are not favorable. The proprietors of the bathing beach at Grand Bend probably had nothing whatever to do with erecting the div- ing board on the pier. It was prob- ably erected there by boys who want- ed facilities for diving. But if boys diving from that board are going to run the risk of death or serious injury, it should be the business of somebody ito see that the board is removed at on No. 2 Highway, as compared with | through Strathroy. 'More Than Usual Interest To Stratford Citizens The winning of the title of the 'world wheat championship at the Re- gina Show was of more than usual ,interest to Stratford citizens this | year, owing to the fact that the newly- lecrowned wheat king, Frelan Wilford lof Staveley, Alberta, is a nephew of i\Mr. and Mrs. E.
