WHICH ONE? Dear Miss St. John: I am going to marry one of the two men in my life. They are both re- turned men I've known for years. I know they both want to marry me. I am fond of them both, but maybe not really in love. All the same, I'm go- ing to marry one of these men. All my friends are married and I am not so young. Soon I'll be a spinster! So please help me to decide which one, Miss St. John. Here's what they are like. One is good looking. He is fun to go out with. He is generous. He never goes with anyone else. He is intelligent. He loves books and is fond of music. He is kind. The other boy has certain talent. He _ is well educated and fond of sports. He likes home life. Which of the two do you think would make the best! husband? JANIE. . Answer: In the first place, Janie, your idea of choosing a life partner as you would a new hat seems definite- ly wrong. A marriage that is not built on love is seldom a happy mar- riage. However, if you have decided to marry one of the two men mention- ed, choose the one who loves you most. If you think they are both -truly in love with you marry the | man whose tastes are most like your own. You are the only one who can de- cide this most unusual problem, Janie. We do wish you happiness. ' INA ST. JOHN. FLOWERS FROM HIM Dear Miss St. John: My boy friend in Europe sent me a bouquet of red roses. Is it true the roses stand for something nice? MARGO. Answer: Those who understand the language of flowers tell us that roses ..Stand for love -- a bouquet of red roses, a confession of love. However, Margo, not every boy friend knows the language of flowers! Don't be disappointed if time proves that your friend merely sent red roses because they are his favorite flower. INA ST. JOHN. NO ENTERTAINING Dear Miss St. John: My Dad works at night. In daytime he takes a sleep in the morning. Then he works around or goes downtown and sleeps in the evening until time to go to work. I am sixteen. Other girls have girls and boys at their homes in the even- ings. I never can. My girl friends come in the afternoons. Do you think it is because I can't ask them in that I don't have many dates with boys? MARY. Answer: Well, Mary, you have plenty of time for steady dating. If there is one special boy, tell him why you cannot invite him into your home in the evening. It will soon be warm enough to entertain on the verandah --quietly. Two need not disturb any- one sleeping inside. INA ST. JOHN. Dear Miss St. John: It is some time since I wrote to you. I have been busy with our new son. He is six weeks old. He was born on a Sunday. Do you know a verse that tells what the day of the week means if it is a birthday? Thanking you a lot-- STELLA Answer: Here is the verse, Stella. (Best wishes to the little son). Monday's child is fair of face; Tuesday's child is full of grace; Wednesday's child is loving and giv- ing; Thursday's child works hard for its living; Friday's child is full of woe; Saturday's child has far to go; But the child that is born on the Sab- bath Day Is blithe and bonny and good and gay.
