In a style survey made in Toronto many older women voiced this com- plaint. "We are the forgotten women of the fashion world," they said. '"De- signers neglect us. Their models show a lack of imagination and _in- terest and they seem content to turn out a surplice bodice design with a "We're The Forgotten Women" | Say Size 18's And Over straight skirt as a solution to the over 18 size problem." : Waistlines were either too large, or too high and the styles were described as dowdy and "frumpy." Women of fifty want as much style and snap to their clothes as_ their. younger sisters. Their complaint might suggest that more promotion attention should be paid to this specialized field, which could yield a rich harvest. A "tummy" is not wholly a sign of fat. It means that there is a general sagging-down of the muscles of the lower part of your body. The inactiv- ity of the muscles of your abdomen can bring about constipation and faulty elimination. This in turn leads to lack of pep, lowered vitality and poor circulation. And many of the complications of poor circulation lead to pimples, headaches, ete. Some- thing should be done about it. The simple exercises given below will enable you to restore your ner- vous energy, improve your complex- ion, purify your circulation and gain greater perfection against common ills. You'll be surprised how different you'll feel. Another point. Make it a practice to breathe deeply as you perform these exercises. Practice these bodily movements with all the enthusiasm at your command, 1. Lie flat on your back. Clasp your hands in back of your head. Now rise to a sitting position without bending your knees or allowing your heels to leave the ground, Then reach forward and touch your toes. If you find dif- ficulty in doing this at first, hook your toes under some heavy object. Do it the hard way as soon as you can. Re- -| peat until pleasantly tired. Go easy at first, 2. Stand erect, with your feet to- gether. Extend your arms straight out from the sides. Now rotate your body by swinging the arms around in an are as far as they will go, at the same time rising on your toes. Get enough swing into this to give the abdomen a real twist. Swing first to one side and then to the other. Stop when slightly tired. 3. Kneel on the floor. Weight on hands, knees, back flat, legs out straight. Lower your hips and abdo- men to the floor. Ten years ago 'the battles between Bing Crosby and the late Russ Columbo, Kaie Mem SOmith and VaughnDe Leath, Rudy Vallee and Will Osborne, were serious affairs, the latter rival- ry ending in court. Even the » brother misun- f derstandings, such as those between Jimmy ' and Tommy i... gust friends Dorsey and ue Bing Crosby and brother Bob, now have been mothballed. Today's vogue is to be mutual admirers. Frank Sinatra has one of the best collections of Crosby records (Bing has very few of his own). 'When Frankie's program recently moved from Wednesday ito Monday nights (CBS), Bing was The Voice's guest. Bop Hope, Fred Allen and Jack Benny are good friends, even Kay Kyser and Sammy Kaye--although the latter two were heated up a few years "80 over "singing song titles." Bob Ripley once shied radio because of a similar impediment, but once before the microphone, ke mastered it in a short time... True to his air role, George Burns (Tuesdays, CBS) smokes nickel cigars.
