By the way, have you thought about sub- letting your apartment?" Capital Correspondent (Continued from page 5) practical or at least may be quite dif- ficult. Moreover, there were also dis- cussions about creating industrial councils representative of labor, man- agement and government, with these problems as well as others concerning the future of war workers being under deep consideration at this monent in order to find a proper solution in the common interests of all. * * * Spirit of The Services Two most interesting as well as timely reports have been brought to this capital from Canada's servicemen abroad, with both proving the true spirit of the "Canadian servicemen. Hon. Brig. C. G. Hepburn, principal Protestant chaplain of the Canadian Army, declared in Ottawa that Can- ada's servicemen, still in Europe, are in good spirits and the young ones are keen on going to the Pacific. though they want to go home, he said in part, yet they would like to finish the job in the Pacific. Air Vice-Mar- shal C. Roy Slemon, who was appoint- ed air officer commanding the R.C. A.F.'s Pacific force, upon arriving in this capital, indicated that Canadian airmen are volunteering to serve in the Pacific and they are determined to see that Canada helps in finishing that job properly. we * Canada's Position It must be pointed out that the Canadian Government is represented in Eire by a high commissioner and the same is true of Hire's representa- tion in this nation, with this being emphasized in regard to the report that Premier de Valera had stated in Dublin that Hire is a republic within the British Commonwealth of Nations in so far as external policy was con- cerned. In other words, HEire's repre- sentative in Ottawa and Canada's re- presentative in Dublin have the same status as the other high commission- ers between the various parts of the Empire. STRATFORD CHIT CHAT (Continued from Page 1) camp at Espanola, now disbanded. One time when Mrs. Boon and her then one- year-old son Bobby, were visiting the camp the prisoners tried to make friends with him through the wire en- closure until they were told to stand back. The prisoners "heiled Hitler' morning and afternoon regularly and Mrs. Boon says that young Bobby had to be restrained from copying them.. so quickly do the young mimic their elders, not realizing the danger. * * * Holidaying Miss Aileen Walsh, 163 Avondale Avenue, and Miss Frances Kastner, 119 Cambria street, are spending a two-week vacation at Port Elgin. Mr. and Mrs. A. Hamilton, 107 Grange street, their son Archie and grandson Lionel are holidaying at Port Dover this week. Archie says he's hoping to get some fishing done. Wren Miriam Smith, statiened in Halifax at HM.CS. "Stadacona," spent part of her leave at her parents' home on Duke street. She has been in the navy since last fall and was present in Halifax when the-terrifying explosions took place a short while ago. The Wrens were evacuated hur- riedly from their quarters by truck, leaving all their belongings behind and told to leave just as they stood. Many and varied were the costumes that attired the girls until the danger was over, we heard. ' Son: "Daddy, what does leisure mean?" Dad: "Leisure, my son, is the two minutes' rest a man gets while his wife finds something for him to do." "Freddie, can you name an animal that hibernates in the summer time?" "Yessum, Santa Claus."
