Stemmler, which occurred on Wed- nesday, Dec. 20th, following an opera- ion for appendicitis Monday. The end was very unexpected as the late Mr. Stemmler had never been sick and was attending Listowel High School. Besides his parents he leaves to mourn his loss three brothers and three sis- ters. Dec. 2nd. At two o'clock Clerk Loch- head announced that the nomination was closed and read the names of those who were nominated, viz; For Reeve--Wm. Scott, Jas. Donaldson, and John Hamilton. For Deputy- Reeve--Samuel Smith. For Council- lor--Wm. Coates, John Illman, Chas. Vallance, The above Deputy-Reeve and Councillors were therefore elect- ed by acclamation. The usual meet- ing followed with George Lochhead chairman, who called upon Wm. Scott. Reeve, who gave an account of the work done in the Township and con- cluded with an appeal for a united effort fox victory in the Great War. Mr. Smith, Deputy-Reeve, and Messrs Coates, Illman and Vallance being celled upon also made short addresses. Mr. Jas. Nicholson being called upon stated he was not a candidate and in an eloquent appeal approved of the assistance given by the Council to ensure the victory in the great strug- gle and that they should continue to give and no loyal Canadian citizen would dare to oppose it. Mr. John Hamilton not being present, sent in his resignation later, leaving Wm, Scott elected Reeve by acclamation. The meeting closed with singing the National Anthem.
