"To the Grave"

The funeral of the late Mr. Alran Johnson took place this morning upon the arrival of the train from Toronto. The cortege proceeded from the Market street depot to the Mohawk church where a number of Brantford friends and others from the Six Nations reserve, had assembled. Rev. C. H. P. Owen officiated and two favorite hymns of the deceased were sung, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Miss Eva Johnson, accompanied the remains from Toronto, and also Col. Macqueen, Mr. F. Loft and Mr. Rathbone.

The pall-bearers were Chief A. G. Smith, F. Frank, F. Loft, H. Hill, F. D. Reville and Mr. Rathbone.

The floral tributes were exceedingly numerous and included a beautiful wreath from the U. E. Loyalists of Toronto.

Interment was made in the Mohawk burying ground, adjacent to the tomb of Chief Joseph Brant.

All during yesterday afternoon members of the U. E. L. and other friends kept coming in groups and parties to pay last honors to the late Allen Wawanosh Johnson, whose body lies in the Hopkins' funeral chapel on Yonge street. Until 8 o'clock in the evening the visitors kept arriving, and at that time a special service was held by the United Empire Loyalists. Rev. Canon Macnab officiating. The coffin was surrouned with floral offerings. A large wreath was sent by the U.E.L. and another by the Empire Club. Wreaths or flowers were also sent by many friends.

Among those who attended the service were the officers and executive of the U.E.L. and Col. and Mrs. F.W. MacQueen, Miss J. MacCallum, Mrs. Cadieux, Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Davies, Mr. J. S. Carstairs. Dr. R. A. Pine, Mrs. Frank Egerton, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. C. Cameron, Major F. V. and Mrs. Lofts, Mrs. C. B. Macqueen and Mr. W. S. Morden.
